Ha! So much better than all the boring boxes parked around it! I don't think I've ever used the transit bus - pretty sure last time I went to the NEC I used a car park right outside! Have to see what time I get there if I go. Is it good?

Its not much of a walk Tony and that is the closest parking.

Sean - Your probably right about me keeping this as my daily driver as it was a very pleasant 150 mile trip each way. I could have gone in the van but its so nice just being out in a Zed.

3 nice 240's on the z register stand. All US imports so straight and rust free. They are trying to promote the advantages of LHD imports.

Thanks, mine was the Orange one, the other two have been converted to RHD, you should've said hello

So who is going to accuse the Z register of being too pro 240Z and therefore anti-260Z (2 and 2+2) and even 280Z ?

Nice cars - just lacking a bit of deco and animation surrounding them - bit like a car-park meet-up.

Thanks for the photos.

Not me. I was asked if I'd put my 260z on the stand. I turned the offer down, not because I didn't want my Z in the show but due to circumstances which may have mean't my car not being able to make show at the last minute and I didn't want to let the CZR down.

Beautiful examples on display.

Looks like they have gone all leftie ! Is the message that don't bother investing and restoring a RHD example, just buy a LHD import instead coz it's cheaper ?

Or was it to educate the masses who approach CZR and want to buy Z's that LHD is the new RHD given shortage of good RHD examples?

When was the first time a Z32 was seen at the NEC Classic show ?

2002 or 2003??.Paul Willets white UK spec car. I had it alongside Paul Wrangles 280ZX 2+2 IIRC.
My first year was 2001 with Big Sam and Steve Hodgsons blue 280ZX 2 seater.
The other combo was Doms Rally car and Jez's facelift Z31 turbo. But I dont remember if that came before or after the 300Zx/280Zx combo???
After that I gave it all up when it changed to a 3 day show. I was too long and difficult to find members and cars with that much free time and costs were rising for insurance, lighting, display material etc and I coulnt personally take time off work to do it
And on the last day ofthe last show some swine pinched the 350Z poster/ banner we had .:eek:

I think the message is if you don't invest and weld up a UK car, my old one certainly needed all the usual rust spots replaced, then go stateside, my orange one has only had the drivers side dogleg welded, not very well as it happens, I'll get that sorted next year when I get it repainted, which as a buyer was an important factor for me as I knew how much it costs for all the work to be done.

I don't know if my car was much cheaper to buy than a UK car but the knowledge that it was 95% a good car was important to me.

One of the big problems with visual display deco and animation is someone has to organize, it work out the logistics of locating display materials transporting it there erecting it all on the Thursday before the show opens together with making sure the whole stand complies with the health and safety risk assessment that has been previously been compiled and submitted to ensure that the stand is covered by the public liability insurance

Then on the late afternoon of the show 4 days after the initial setting up someone has to again dismantle any display load it all in to some sort of Transport work out where to take all so it can be unloaded and stored in for when it could be used again

IMHO over many years it has been the same few no matter which club it is who have done this thankless task and slowly some of those few are moving on without other replacing them and the people who are left slowly get burnt out

We at 300zx wanted to go with some visual displays for our stand and one socket would cost the club £250 ! so it didn't happen.
Money aside every club needs a good Events Team of young enthusiastic members and imo they are found in car clubs that has young members. The older the members then the harder it is to find NEO's. 300zx.co.uk has struggled for over a year to get a new NEO and it is still vacant. The Committee has steeped up to do the duties of this post but it is very time consuming on top of other duties. So Steve I feel your pain.

At least someone joined in and tried to guess (thanks Pete) but although 2002 sound a long time ago now - it's way out !:)

And the for the rest Steve and Gaz - couldn't agree more been there and done that over there and over here - paid out of my pocket too !
