NEC Classic Car Show

I may be talking out of turn here but I think one of the major factors contributing to our non attendance is the fact that there is no-one to run it. Most of the events that this club runs are organised by the committee most (but not quite all) of whom are now pensioners and are no longer imbued with the same enthusiasm and energy that they once were. We are in desperate need of younger members stepping forward and taking over these events otherwise they will all fail and slide into oblivion.

So at the moment we need someone to take over Zed-Fest and someone to step up for the NEC. We are not short of members who wish to attend all types of club events, what we are short of is younger members willing to step forward and take over the organization.

You ain talking out of turn its a valied point but you got to admit that it has become more of a zx forum than a car club with which a certan few have an agenda which has been mentioned before with the same people contributing with their comments and opinions which are policed by wot i think are some sad people on here which should get out more.ie take up gardening,you know who you are,The point is dont waste club funds with some micky mouse show cos thats all it is compared to something like the bromley pageant and other big classic car shows which happen all over the country throughout the year

Yes that's accurate Derek. Of course we haven't actually asked for any help so perhaps your comments are timely.

The show is too formal IMO and VERY onerous on those running a stand (4 days in total plus the work in the weeks beforehand and some after). Also to do it again would need the purchase of some professional display equipment which is a task in itself and transporting/storing it. It's all that sort of thing that members may not realise.

IMO the show has become too big and is perhaps suited to the trade more than Clubs like ours.

As you know we have a new NEO on 300zx.co.uk who is doing an excellent job for us and on joint meets with all the Z clubs. He can of course speak for himself if he wants to respond to your Volunteer plea but I think it would be a good idea for one person who is trusted by all the clubs to pull the clubs together at show and track meets with the help of other event organisers.
You can of course still have your own club shows but the idea of an Inter Club NEO for all clubs would be a move forward in better numbers at these big events.
