Does anyone use “garage band” on their iphone to add effects!?

To Richie’s point - due to work travel and then getting married, having kids, zero time for anything other than diy, I hadn’t seen my guitar in 15 years.

When I pulled it out of storage, it was 21:00 so I thought I would have a little mess about before bed time - didn’t get there until 03:00!!! Somehow playing a guitar stops time for me. I had forgotten how therapeutic / relaxing it is.

I love jamming with this session and pretending I could be a guitar God like these chaps. Although my stray is way too tinny sounding! Anyone else do that in their quiet moments?

The late Mr F had a very impressive collection. The last went to his place he was showing me something very special he had picked up for around £3k - sadly I forget what it was. :(

Here’s his WhatsApp pic of just a few of his ...

Guys this is amazing to me. I'd never have thought that there would be such a collection of guitars in the Club.

I know 'status' plays in a band but who else does (I've seen the old pic of Chris).

Are these guitars collected as a piece of engineering art, an investment, something to play or just a hobby?

I remember seeing Dave Gilmore on tv talking about the sale of his guitars - would they be any better than your's or more valuable because he has played them.

I haven’t played in a band now for probably 6 years or more which is a shame but it’s hard to find people committed now, most my friends have ‘other’ lives to live.

I seem to buy them to collect and play but they end up being hung and looked at rather than played and it results in me always playing the same 2/3 guitars.

My go to guitars are my PRS Custom 22, Fender USA Deluxe and my Fender 63 light relic custom shop. Can play most styles. I don’t really pick up my Ibanez’s much anymore, only if I’m feeling blasting some old Vai or Satch boogie...

Famous guitar players guitars certainly demand a premium in the collectors market, much like your well documented rally cars would in the automotive scene. A lot of signature models fetch a premium, particularly rare ones. John Mayer moved from Fender to PRS recently and his limited edition models went through the roof, handy as I owned 2. One of which is his BLK1 signature model, there were two types, a very rare custom shop (heavy relic) and a 1/500 limited run. I own the latter and have owned it for maybe 5 years? It’s quadrupled in value, but I didn’t buy it for that.

I love guitars. The feel, the expression and emotions you can create when playing... and of course the facial expressions I make when I play are quite amusing for people I’m sure..!

You’re not doing it right unless it looks like you’re in pain on the toilet..!

Here’s another one I got last year, 1 of 2 in the country I was told at the time. I had to have one as it took me so many years to find my JS10th... just a bit miffed that the continued to sell it after the limited edition run as a generic stock colour..! Doesn’t come with the plaque or case though!

Might of been the Telecaster Alik
You can download effects from the TC website point your phone at the pick ups and you have two effects to use on your TC head, bloody clever that is
I’ve got lots of Basses as all my guitars are top notch and cost thousands so if you’ve got a good guitar you don’t sell it,p you just get another good guitar
For those of you into basses I was at Status guitars a couple weeks back and Rob is trying to get Mark king to go back to the s2 shape whilst trying to convince him it’s not an old fashion shape so might be a good investment if you have an original s2,think I might have one somewhere

I think this is different for everyone, sort of like cars.

I personally would not own two cars that are too similar. I'd rather have different ones for different situations. Same goes with guitars, but of course, if you have enough there can be some overlap.

I have the philosophy of diversifying, a guitar is a tool to me, and they all sound different and feel different. I don't have two of the same model, they all target a specific sound I'm after. Same goes with amplifiers.

Most of the guitars in this thread are expensive professional quality instruments, identical to ones proved on the road by pro players (some are signature models like Dan’s Chromeboy and other JS and Universe Ibanezs, my N4, etc., other are top tier boutique pieces like Peter’s PRSs).

I want to specify that guitars doesn't have to be expensive to be good. I have a few partscasters and other guitars that are cheap compared to a PRS Private stock, that I play a lot. One of my all time favorites is my Tokai LS225 with P90s, or my PRS Mira that I bought used for £600 (the old US made ones are still the bargain of the century if you find one in good condition).

What I do find with the PRSs (and many high end guitars except Gibsons ;)) in particular (except they fit my playing style well) is that they are dead stable. They can be in a case for months and I can just pick them up and record. I've had my CU24 for 7 years now, the setup is still like it was from the factory, I have never touched the trussrod on it. I've really come to appreciate that, they really are great tools for a job.

It's so fun to see all of your gear!
