MSA order advice

Hi guys,
I’m waiting to place an order with MSA for a total of $2400. They say the don’t accept PayPal and want me to wire them the money. This seems very unusual as it will leave me totally protection-less if they decide to not send the goods. I offered to pay be credit card also. Have anyone else faced this problem and how did you overcome it?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I am in the states and have ordered thousands of dollars with MSA and always paid with credit card though out the years.
Maybe they are concerned about chargebacks on the credit card or disputes with PayPal???
They are known for taking your order and then weeks later telling you that some of the parts are on back order and unknown when they might be shipped.....FYI

I've also used them quite a lot and always paid by credit card. Did they refuse your credit card?

I wanted to buy parts from them and it was a f nightmare they said they would contact me via email with details of how to pay. I gave up in the end and went else where. Also all the logging in ball was nuts. Every time I put my details in it did not recognise them and I had to start again. I spent hours just not worth the hassle. Imo.

FWIW -

I’ve ALWAYS paid with cards when ordering from them.

They are annoying about having to come back to you on postage by email etc.

The logging in is a pain but I’ve gotten used to it and like the fact that I can store th basket and come back to it later after some naval gazing.

I’ve fallen foul of the back order issues mentioned a couple of times.

I tend to use rockauto a lot more than MSA though unless it’s those speciality parts you can’t find elsewhere.

I agree that on a large order you shouldn’t go without protection. However I’ve found them to be honest - the question is what happens if it’s lost in transit etc, do they have postal insurance.

Not sure what to recommend.

If you think that is a pain, try ordering from RHDJapan!! I love their stuff but my goodness do they make it hard work. (Cue Franky ...) [emoji12]

I did find their website one of the most un-user-friendly ones around though. They could do with updating it big time with some better pics. I find it hard to comprehend how anyone selling stuff online can have such poor pics of the items. Photos are taken in their millions at great quality on a device everyone has - yet some websites actually selling stuff can't be bothered to have them next to the item. Unbelievable in 2020!

I use RockAuto as much as I can as they are quick and the prices are good. If you need specialist z parts try z car source. Had no problems with them.

You can get all of those items from alternative sellers in the US and Japan. Try Z Car Depot for a start.

MSA's whole online approach is about 15 years out of date and the payment setup ridiculous.

RE: RHDJapan - Ali, personally I think its easy. I've never had a problem with RHD or its sibling BidJDM. Why is it a challenge?

Got a few bit and bobs from Z Car Depot before Christmas - much easier to deal with - set up an account and try them out. Ordered a fair amount from them over the past five years and not had a problem.

I firstly had to open a transfer wise account and find it, then the currency conversion needs to be the same as theirs or your order gets delayed. Finally after the order I was told the in-stock item was out of stock and had to wait longer than quoted / planned.

I don’t see why they can’t just charge you on their website.

one of the items was out of stock after I paid, it arrived back in the next time I was in the US about 3 months later.... lucky for me but yes they are 20 years out of date

they did take my credit card with NP

Ali - why did you need to do it in local currency (I assume that was why you went Transfer Wise and not just for optimal exchange rates?) ? Don't RHD just take credit card? I've never ordered from them but planned to shortly.

RHDJapan do just take a credit card. There are minor differences in what the website tells you it will cost in your currency and what it actually gets converted as, but I never found that a problem.
