Hi, everyone.
I've encountered a problem that hopefully someone out there can help sort it out.
Long story short, I’m in the last phases of a 1973 240Z five speed manual rebuild. While fitting new bearings and seals to the Differential and gearbox I sent the various bolts away to be re-plated. Unfortunately, a bolt was lost and it just happened to be the one that holds the gear selector shaft in tension. See photos attached to help identify the part in question.
In the meantime, I have managed to get one machined but it’s a best guess at best. I wondered if someone knew the correct internal and external bolt dimensions for the (Plunger Plug bolt)
What I do know is, it’s a 20mm course threaded bolt with a hole bored into it, to take a spring and pin to hold the gear selector shaft in tension.
What I don't know is the correct length of the external thread and the internal diameter and depth of the hole in the body if the bolt.
So if you have a gearbox out at the moment or have made notes of this particular bolts specs, do let me know.
As always, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rob
