Mechanical Fuel Pump

How long should the system take to prime from empty?

I almost flattened a brand new battery today and the float chambers are still dry! I'm thinking I might just buy an electronic pump instead.

On a positive, the wiring is all OK as it fires just fine with a squirt of power start.

Cheers,

Wes

Fluid pumps aren't good at sucking air through them, you could try filling the float bowls with fuel so you can get the engine running, hopefully it will run the pump long enough to get the fuel up to it.

i presume that no fuel is getting through the fuel pump,i know this i a stupid question but have you got plenty of fuel in the tank and fuel filter to check for crap coming out of the tank etc.if you take the fuel pipe of the pump and get someone to turn it over you should feel it blowing on your finger when placed over the end but be carefull if loads of petrol comes out.
