Lowering/coilovers

Hello

please bear with me as I’m new to all this and everyday is a learning curve.
I’m looking to lower my 280zx. I guess the best way would to go down the adjustable coil over route rather than slamming it on shorter springs? Correct me if I’m wrong.
I’m not at the level where I’ll be taking it to tracks any time soon so looking more for street comfort. Is there an affordable set up someone would recommend?

theres a place in sheffield coil springs 1989 that will use your original spring and adjust then to your own spec . i used them for my 280z very good job . the guy said that its better to use the originals than make new ones as nissan use high grade steel .the only thing which could be a problem is postage . 2 reviews said there cash whent missing in the post but i would send a cheque anyway . about £100 for all four springs . chris

Hi Aiden

Choice is a bit limited but there are solutions. Most are US based, I'm sure someone will correct me however.

Im am currently running with Eibach lowered spring, they have dropped the car about an inch without messing up the geometry, and Koni adjustable shocks.

This set up has been fine for me. You do really need adjustable shocks with lowering springs and the choices are pretty slim for the 280ZX.

I did have a set of springs that dropped the car an inch and a half but I experienced camber issues with the rear wheels and didn't what to go to the faff of adjustable bushes and camber plates.

If you want coil overs, Techno Toy Tuning do front and rears for 280ZX

Or if you want to do the welding yourself

No idea what either are like tho I'm afraid.

Neither options are 'cheap' due to the carriage from the States.
