Lots of Wiring Help please

I'm trying to get my 240 ready for the summer and am currently sorting out wiring.

Any help appreciated. The car runs and gauges work. Yay!
The dash lights work.
Rear lights work.
Reverse lights work.
Therefore I assume the left stalk is working.

On the dash, left indicator is permanently on.
When I pull the flash knob left and right stay on
Then I press the flash button headlight the left arrow flashes as expected and the main beam light also comes on as expected.

Front lights don't work at any other time and indicators are not responding to the stalk going up or down.
I've not tried the brake lights yet. One thing at a time!

This sounds like you have a faulty flasher unit, stuck or U/S

Then I press the flash button headlight the left arrow flashes as expected and the main beam light also comes on as expected.

The left indicator arrow should not flash when you press the headlight flash button on the end of the indicator stalk, only main beam indicator should come on.

This could be a by product of the faulty flasher unit or a wire connecter to a wrong terminal on a relay

I would take the cowl around the steering column off and check the wiring there, it sounds to me like there might be a short or connectors hooked up wrong there.
