Look what I found in the wilds of San Diego…

Well my San Diego phase of this year’s US trip took a turn for the worst that has inhibited my Z spotting/hunting - I went and caught COVID again at Disneyland. So spent a week of our 10 days down here staring at the walls of a bedroom in isolation. However today (Weds) I finally escaped and we went for dinner with a colleague/friend of my wife about 20 mins from our apartment in Pacific Beach.

Just before we got there, we drove by a lot filled with assorted classics in states of pre-restoration dilapidation. And lo and behold, right at the front:

It was a great project car IMO. Lots of patina but very straight, no major visible rust, mint rear arches. No idea if it’s for sale, no price on it, but I suspect it is. And no, don’t ask me where it is exactly - I’m not willing to divulge yet! ;)

Hey Rich, nice find.
If that is factory original black paint it is a limited edition 'Black Pearl' model one of approx. 1500 made. in 1978. Paint code 638. The only time Nissan offered the S30 in black.
The only good thing about these and the Zzap versions is that they WERE limited.:EXTRAlol:

Buy and do something with it Rich. Amm S30s need love.:grouphug:

Rich when I was in SD in May '77 there was a green 280Z on the condominium.

It was owned by an air hostess. At the time I loved Datsuns but didn't realise a 280Z was even produced! Told my Mum on a postcard - bet that was interesting to her!

Hadn’t considered that when I looked at it. Generally, you see black, you assume respray, but there was no indication that it had been - it looked factory - no alternative colour visible on the worn-through patches, just primer.

My household popularity level has dipped since I started advocating trying to buy it…
