diesel rockers are smaller than petrol rockers.

Not a lot of people know that.

I've started assembling it, after months of faffing about with tow hooks and differentials.
So far, its on the stand and I've got all the plugs in.

Some of the coolant holes blanked on the deck face. (as well as a bunch on the other side drilled)

There's more core plugs than on petrol blocks.

In the last pic on the lower right of the pic you can see how they’ve clearanced the LD block to allow the rods to miss the sides. Only found this late in the day on my L28, the bolt heads catch the block if you go OTT on the stroke!

PS. Have you jet washed the block and all the galleries since doing all the internal clean up? I found casting grit and dust everywhere.

Ah yes, I've not noticed that. I know the rods have 2 or 3mm clearance, but the crank is only 84.25.
The block is spotless, blown through and brushed where possible in the hot tank.

I made a little manger for it and it's older sibling. I wish I'd made one years ago when I built the current engine - fitting the flywheel and clutch is a PITA with the engine swinging on the crane.

Jon, which of your engines had a mishap when revved high? Is it the one in your car now?

Are you going to have a bumper sticker made up saying “ You’ve been Tango’d”?
