Oh, starter motor and alternator look like they should fit. (although the alternator has some strange oil suction pump on the back!

Cam exhaust lobes look like they're in the same place as petrol, but inlet looks about 5-10 deg advanced over the petrol. Not surprising I suppose given the rpm range of the diesel.

Well here are a couple of interesting posts on a Facebook page I can’t seem to link to which speak of the LD block and the R L35. The post was about an N/A 10.3 second quartermile car and someone was asking what is the most known RWHP of L series NA motors.

10 second car link below. Not sure what engine it is but for anyone who knows him, it’s Eichi Ito’s car before his recent crash ...

Here’s an older version of his engine’s dyno sheet

I agree - the video isn’t with the L35 / R engine but the discussion was interesting. I’d never really heard of a proper performance implementation off the LD28’s block until recently.

I'm sure the LD28 turbo blocks have a lot more strengthening rib's on them than the normal LD28 blocks, as said above they are a taller block to so bonnet clearance might be an issue

The bonnet clearance is the usual deal breaker with the LD block. Also, LD blocks are only 84.5mm bore. Overboring only gets you to 86-87mm max, so for really big bore for stuff well above 3.1, the only route is liners. And a custom billet crank with big stroke (85/86mm). V07 crank from an LD28 won't cut it I'm afraid (not without welding, offset grinding, etc. and even then its still a lardy great truck crank). For the vast majority who fantasize about 3.35-3.5 engines, the financial effort to achieve that result is powerfully dissuasive....

Besides, that Datsunworks head that gets mentioned above would give you plenty of kickass sitting on top a comparatively "ordinary" 3.1-3.2L stroker tbh! But you're still talking £££££ cylinder head sitting on a ££££ bottom end.

The above Facebook comments also make me want to bash my head against the wall. Rebello HP fantasy figures and talk of 91 octane (i.e. ubershit street gas)...

Watching that video you can hear a little screech from the tires when shifting into second and third gear, nice :D
