L28 Fast Road Engine Rebuild - Advice Wanted!

you know what Mark, thats a Man's bike.

you know what carbs a Man has?

OER.

you know what camshaft a Man would have?

Kameari

Don't let yourself down, remember you have to look at yourself in the mirror every day.

Imagine how much better you'd feel.

Imagine how much more attractive OER carbs make you to women? Its well known that OER's are the only Carbs that women like.

Be yourself, be the best of yourself.

I’d have one.

Welcome back Woody! Love the 550-4 - remember those well. Would have kept it as was though but that’s just personal preference! Yoof eh?

Hi Mark, I like your bike in both 'forms' - my era of bike. I would have kept it original though because it was so nice. In 10 years time will the 'retro' look still be 'in' or will it have moved on to another look?

Also have you ever ridden 'pillion' if so you will understand my concern for any passenger on the 'retro' bike?

Is it legal to remove the indicators?

Engine:

Head skim 3 sides. Is that including the cam tower decks then?

Carbs - thought about 2" SUs ? They worked really well on my 2.8.

All this women love OERs is lost on me.

Rich - yes size matters but not how you mean. If you know what you are doing small (within reason) is fine. ;)

Hahaha well seeing as you're such a gentleman and already have a woman in your life, then why don't you help another 'man' out?

Dust off that Kameari Cam and OER Carbs and get them in the post to me, I'll have them burning up the streets within the year. Think about how much better I'll feel and all the women that will be throwing themselves at my feet ;)

Thanks Mike, I've wanted one to rebuild for years. It's still the original frame so all reversible ;-)

Also the original photo betrays its true condition, the mudguards were totally rotten, literally went straight through metal when the rust was ground off so couldn't be saved. I built and patched them back up however resprayed to suit my desired aesthetic as they'd never give a good OEM finish again.

Thanks Rob, if you look at the photos above then you'll understand my motives. Wouldn't be hard to bolt new chrome back on though to go back towards OEM. Who knows, I love the modern retro vibes of resto mods. Equally It'll probably be gone by then, the brakes still scare me...

I have, don't worry the gorgeous girl can just hang on to me ;)

haha no, there's actually modern LED's front and rear if you look closely. They're stupidly bright compared to the OEM candles and you'd never know they were there.

I've heard they can work well, my dad has them on his Healey, however if I'm going to invest more funds then it'll likely be in an EFI or triple setup when I can afford it. More likely EFI, however I'd like to just use what I've got to start with before another couple of grand just disappears!
