Back to your sanding!! Stop chattings Zs!

Ok then, so electric fuel pump, what else do you want to add?

Shall we say 200bhp??? 900kg? Lets decide our 'modern standard' Zs power and tune...

I'm sorry but there's no point keeping up this pointless conversation.

I could post hundreds of links of track prepped 350Zs, who would pee all over any track prepped 240z. this is again keeping the same driver. I don't need to prove anything with shootouts or whatever, you compared a track prepped stripped out rebuilt 240z vs a daily driver 350z. wtf is that all about? come on be serious. at least try to compare like for like ie road car vs road car and track spec vs track spec. I keep mentioning the US as that's where the real 350z experience lies due to the number of sales and the number of tuning companies that have played with the 350Z. Here in Uk afaik there's the RJN 350Z that compete in the FIA GT championship and the SUMO Z which is a drift spec Z. Guess what, any of those cars would eat any 240Z track prepped alive.

So I reiterate my points: standard spec 240Z vs standard 350Z=Z33 any day around any track

track spec 240Z vs track spec 350Z=again 350Z any day, around any track

Again this would have to be same day with same driver.

just agree with me, you know I'm right

re: trackday car what's to elaborate? an exige is focused trackday car from the factory, a modified 240z isn't. I know where I would spend my money if I wanted a track day car.

re: japfest what I meant by that is that you guys on here unfortunately don't have much 350Z knowledge or experience, so comparing one guy going around a track @ castle combe with a standard Z vs several stripped out track prepped S30 is neither fair nor making sense, at all.
But if you want to keep hoping that your ideal 240Z however track prepped is the fastest thing on earth, please go ahead :)

An Exige is a bloody toy car with transit switchgear. Or at least every Elise I've seen is... :p

Anyway for our "uncomparable comparison" forgetting standard 240s are we talking a 240 and 350 of equal value? Or of equal power/brakes/suspension etc?

Admitted that the one poor guy in his 280bhp 350Z might not have been the best representative of the species (I hope he's not reading this but if he does don't take it badly :).

I repeat that there were no stripped out track prepped S30s present - merely modified road going Zs ! I'm not playing word games, honestly, the S30s you saw are primarily road cars, used whenever possible as much as possible on the roads !

Stripped out ? Have you seen the inside of Skiddells' car - more leather than a Z33 !

So, for fun, we're comparing a standard Z33 (that happens to have a six speed box, ABS, super big Brembo ventilated discs all round, ESP, power steering and a superb engine producing 280bhp with computers checking everything to ensure that it all continues to work perfectly in harmony..................to admittedly a modified (give us a chance) S30 over 30 years older (old chassis, old design, old-ish technology) that might, and not all had, front ventilated discs smaller than that of the Z33, no ESP, no ABS, no power steering (;), and basically a four speed box with a rev. reducing overdrive and another great engine, probably (on average that day) producing no more than 220 bhp !

And you cry that isn't a fair comparison ? Go and get some Z33 mates along and let's have a real debate because you're outnumbered here, it aint fair and aint representative :) !

I like to go the monetary route as that is the reason I don't already have a Z33 :)

Lets ignore the £26995 cars or whatever they are new, and go in at £20k for a used 280bhp example.

I spend £8k on a good, no work needed 260z. £12k to play with so £2k suspension components, £2k brakes, £2k for a few trick bits (racing buckets, torsion bars etc etc), £6k for engine work. Reckon we're on for 260bhp, and 1000kg yet?

Anyone got the Z fighter dvd? On there are some 'eleventy million' HP 300zxs, the Spirit Garage S30 (no idea what that would cost though), and the GT4 Z33 I think. Nice little comparison.

I think ultimately the Z33 is going to be a faster car if money were no object, but in the real world I don't think it is?

If you want to compare the cars at a monetary level - what is the new price of a Z33 ? £.......

Then we take mine - £............... effectively a 'new' S30 - I'll quote you the approx. price ('cos it aint finished yet) later when I know what a Z33 sells for today new !

Has The Minel ever driven a modded S30 in anger (without having to worry about cops and cameras and little old ladies crossing the road in front and oncoming traffic........etc, etc) ? He should !

I've driven a Z33 and the little green ESP light spent more time on than off :) !

:confused::confused: that's because you should have switched it off from teh start, not driven it like a sissy with the esp on

you guys are still talking nonsense i'm afraid. of course if you modify (ok still road going, but with £12k worth of mods I make my Z33 eat your S30s alive anyday :p) even a 35 yo car then change everything as Russ said and no wonder it'll be faster than a stock Z33, this comparison makes no sense whatsoever!

forget about the cost of the car, how much were the S30 brand new? could you afford them then? no? well then...

one last time

S30 brand new factory standard vs Z33 brand new factory standard= Z33 anytime anywhere

S30 stripped out/track prepped/whatever you want it to be vs Z33 stripped out/track prepped/whatever you want it to be= Z33 again, no question

S30 with £12k worth of mods vs Z33 with £12k worth of mods= Z33 anytime, anywhere.

anymore for anymore :D

See? you just can't win :D

Wrong - VERY wrong ! You have no idea here - patriotism and fidelity to your car is great but don't let it cloud reason :) !

Go and buy your £12k worth of mods and then come and call..........bring a friend !

End of the day, it's unfair to compare Z33s to S30s, just as it is unfair to compare 280ZXs to 240Zs ! Each model was built to compete against the opposition from other manufacturers AT THE TIME OF THAT CARS' PRODUCTION !

The fact that the 30+ year old previous model can p*ss all over the latest offering is just a nice bonus to us with the wrinkly cars ;) !

the important thing is to be completely conviced of what one's is saying. you seem to be, well done

LOL

Well as money is no object then I'll add £100k of mods to the S30, along with £100k of mods to the Z33, and your body shell will still weigh more ;)

£26995 OTR I believe, and £1500 for the tent top.

How can comparing a £27k S30 to a £27k Z33 not be fair?! :D Otherwise there is no way to make a comparison, it simply wouldn't be fair either. The S30 has the superior performance/£ ratio :p

I will try and borrow the Z Fighter dvd from Nick again, and rip the 350z lap times from it, along with the S30 times, evidence :)

bet it's one of those Jap DVDs where they make one different car win depending what's on the cover that month :D

:p :)

It's called Z Fighter, and is by Best Motoring, purely on Zs :) I imagine there are some faster 350zs on there anyway.

yup, best motoring, that's them mate :) they make a different car win on every dvd, just to make everyone happy LOL

Sean, so you spent 20k worth of mods on your S30? nice, wonder if I did that to my Z how many times it'd lap your S30 :D

PS was in France last summer and people there just can't drive, is that the reason why you moved down there? ;) :D
