Just heard John Peel has died.

Found it rather sad, even if he did come up with some most unusual bands!

62 I think,
can't believe he was that old, certainly never acted that old, always a teenage rebel at heart.

Hang on, he did do a few "Grumpy old men" programs and was quite good at it!

first time i heard the Smiths was on John Peel he played 'Still ill' and i suddenly relised there was more to music than punk.
I'll miss him.

I used to listen to im on my first tranny under the bedclothes at 10 pm each night - never understood what he was talking about but the music was fresh and varied - guess a lot of up and comers have a lot owed to him !

The Sex Pistols et al were brought to me via John Peel - all my formative years were spent listening to him.

Rest In Peace John

Very touching tributes, I suppose he was an icon of the era, along with some of those cars ending in Z.
