Its arrived V2.0 :)

As the rear lower panel spotweld seams have been filled, it suggests that the panel has been replaced sometime in the distant past.

I should imagine the spotwelds showing adjacent and inboard of the rear bumper mount captives are from when the panel was replaced.

That might be it. There are the original spot welds on the lower rear panel though, Just trying to find the pic showing them.... It'd be a bit of a good repair for America though?

A slightly exaggerated example, but it shows the original spotweld seams:

A glimpse!

Yes, I've got those on the lower rear panel, I think maybe my mistake is not having them fully cleaned out before this paint?

The car had lots of the spot welds filled up when it had its cheap blow over before it arrived here.

I wouldn't fret about it. The bumper covers up the horizontal joint spotwelds too.

It's looking lovely. I'm jealous.

Thanks, itching to see it in daylight to make sure the colour is right.

I'm guessing it might have had a gentle tap at the rear and that's where they've used one of the old panel puller things, where the drill the panel to hammer it out?

I know i've only got one chance to get it right.

Thanks Alan....but I'm referring to the 'square' of holes immediately to the left and therefore inside of the original bumper mounting ones - looks like something extra was mounted there for they are too reguler to be 'repair' points.

To add to the conversation and mystery (not criticizing your car franky) there appear to be a couple of similar 'welds' in the middle of the panel under the groove.

Can you share the photos from Alan showing the middle of the valence between the two bumper fixings because I can't see why Nissan would have welded where Rob points out either. Surely welded either end to the bottom of the rear wings and no more ?

Rob on this one you can see where the two spot welds I think you're on about?

All nicely original, just not perfect to look at.

I have spoken to my painter about cleaning out the spot welds more either side, he's going to have a think.

I've put his pic up. Many thanks Alan.

Also put some others showing where the spot welds are. Makes me quite happy really.

It's always difficult choosing wheather to improve the look or leave the rough bit as they came from the factory. All personal choice IMO. Often the dogleg to sill joint is different from one car to the next but should you "improve" it. The whole rear valence area below the bumper was never meant to look perfect, leave it be.
