This is the Marugen Shoukai 240Z specific spoiler, an arm and a leg from RHD Japan, especially when factoring in duties and the conclusion - hugely disappointing from a fitment point of view sadly.
The MS arches were spot on, the spoiler though had the mounts in the wrong place, is too long in the main body and the wing pieces are a different size to each other.
It will need a lot of (expensive) fettling to be perfect unfortunately.

that looks great. It could be that some of the fit with the rear spoiler is just where the back end has been chopped and changed?

Looks so good when you compare it to how you bought it. what a stunner.

I read an article in a race book about S30 rear spoilers. Basically that design came out best. Big and at a steep angle.

When mounting standard S30 rear spoilers I liked to sit them on rubber washers to leave a small gap for water to run through and to avoid rubbing on the rear quarters. Otherwise it can be a rust trap. However if the car is only used in dry conditions..

I didn't appreciate the MS spoiler was a period piece ?
Those photos date from the 1973 season of racing in Japan, showing a particular Works '240ZR' (Group 4 spec) in testing.

The three-piece rear spoiler was sold as a Nissan Sports/Race Option part, with the number 98100-E8276. Many of the Works and privateer race cars were using them from very late in 1972 onwards.

My friend Terashima san put together a very nice replica/tribute of the green/black/white Works 240ZR from the '73 season and it has appeared at several Nismo Festivals over the years, sometimes driven by original Works team drivers (Kitano, Tohira, Yanagida). Lovely car:

Looks like that fitment is pretty much period correct Gnose! One would assume the Marugen Shoukai one is a direct copy of an original, which could account for the issue!

Seems to me that if you align the 3 sections of the spoiler it will 'shout' that it's been tampered with. Ha ha.

This design on my old car would be easier.

All above were from the 2005 NISMO Festival at Fuji Speedway. It was lovely on the Saturday (set-up/practice day) and lovely on the Sunday morning. But Sunday afternoon it started to snow and I half froze to death...

Here's Matsui san (of NP35) belting-in ex-Works driver Kenji Tohira for a run on the Sunday morning. That's me helping on the right. Matsui san built the replica/tribute car for owner Terashima san, and Tohira san drove the original car in period.

Can't believe this was 18 years ago...

Sorry, just one last word about Mr Kenji Tohira.

Tohira san was one of the original Nissan Works SCCN (Sports Car Club of Nissan) drivers. A graduate of the traditional (of the post-war period) two-wheeled motorcycle scrambling/hillclimbing scene, as were so many others. He became one of the elder statesmen of Japanese four-wheeled racers and graduated through the Bluebird/Fairlady/Fairlady Z/Skyline/Sunny school of Works race cars into the Nissan R382 V12 Can-Am style 'Big Bangers' and on into the F3/F2 Grand Champion, Group C and Group A Touring car eras.

A lovely, quiet and modest man. For many years he ran a tuning/race car prep shop called 'Limit' in his native Mito city in Ibaraki prefecture. He is now quite weak after many years of illness (he's pretty much lost the use of his legs), but still engaging and kind company. I'm a fan, honoured to know him and to have spent some nice times with him.

I feel like there's almost a limitless amount of history with the background to these cars and a huge language barrier to overcome to find out more.

I think that, for me at least, the language/information barrier was always part of the attraction.
