Inner wing guidance

My inner wings look to have been repaired at some point (UK car problems), my question is, do the headlight scoops bolt on to the inner wing panels where the bolt holes are present - should I drill some new holes? And do the inner wings line up with the headlight scoops normally? I suspect they should but may need some encouragement. Currently I can fit a couple of fingers in the gap.
Thoughts and pictures of ideal fitment would be ideal.

IMG_0775.JPG That is going to need some corrective work. The panel should extend into the nose of the headlamp 'cone'. Also you should have captive nuts for bonnet hinge and bumper brackets. Plus a grille bracket.

You appear to just have the three bonnet hinge holes.

The three captive nuts are present for the bonnet hinge at least.
Does the captive nut for the grill bracket sit in between the two most forward bonnet hinge holes under the raised part of the hinge itself? It seems logical to be so.
And where should the bumper bracket holes be?

Is there a repair panel available for this area and followup question what's the supposed thickness of metal for this area for the inevitable answer that I've gotta fab it myself.

More detailed pictures (less assembled) would be very much appreciated gents.

Thanks again.

Contact Andy Plant - Auto Panel Solutions - on Facebook. I’m pretty sure he does a repair panel for these areas. He definitely does the air tube extension that attaches to the outside of them.

Whilst I was looking at their body panels I discovered that I'm possibly missing this tiny piece. Radiator support panel to inner wing support?
78 260 2+2 - but looking at pictures I think all cars 'should' have this piece, am I correct ?

Mine is also missing that part, but it had a wing replaced on it at some point.

Edit: Just looking at the car now, see pics

Ok lads, I've got panels on order now and will be cutting away some of the poor metal today.
But my next big question is, I do believe I'm supposed to have vent holes here. During the patchy repairs this car has had in its lifetime it seems somebody decided it was easier to entirely ignore the vents.
So, could I ask kindly for some measurements of the hole itself and its relation to other parts of the car/inner wing so I can reinstate the vent hole please. Both sides if the vent is anyway different.
Orrrrr, somebody inform me that actually this is some sort of special edition that didn't have the vent holes :conf2:

Hi Kest,
I checked pics I have of my USA cars and found the following....
70-73 240Z have the vent tubes on both sides as does the 74 260Z.
1975 280z has the tube on the passenger side only, the driver's side is used for the air intake for the AFM.
1977 280z has no vent tubes on either side.

As I said these are USA cars and I can't speak to the UK cars but hope this helps.
Mike
