Hicas

Iam new to 300zx TT ownership & could do with some help ,
There is a fluid leak from the pipe that leads to the HICAS unit on the rear axle.
Is there 1 fluid tank under the bonnet that feeds both the front & rear steering systems or are they separate? Is it just a standard power steering fluid or something special?
Can you simply bypass the HICAS unit by joining the flow & return pipes as a temporary fix?
Any help & advice greatly appreciated..
Thanks

HICAS shares fluid with power steering system. Uses ATF or power steering fluid.
To eliminate the system you need a HICAS elimination kit consisting of a rigid bar to replace the rear rack and a by-pass piece to join the ends of the send and return hoses together. The elimination bar still uses the inner and outer tie rods / ball joints as a stabiliser so they need to be in good condition and play free.
It is possible to eliminate the whole lot but requires the NA power steering pump, a pulley change (the belts are different to TT), removal of lots of pipework and the double ended solenoid as well as the rear mods outlined above (or use of the NA sub-frame assembly - even more work).
