IMG_4030.JPG IMG_3370.JPG IMG_3511.JPG IMG_3710.JPG I am Eddie based in Reading and I am looking for a 260z if there are any out there. There is one floating about on Auto Trader and it's been on many other sites for £11999. It seems a fair price just wondered why it has been advertised for so many months. Any ideas as I want it. Its this red one.

If you can open it to check it out. I absolutely love these cars. I v been doing up a Jensen Interceptor over the last year and now need to move on. Its been blood sweat and tears all the way. IMG_4035.JPG

Yes the Jensen is an amazing car but like all classics they need their tender love and affection. Also; and I can imagine all these next questions have been asked a multitude of times. Are the cars better with twin webbers and a Janspeed Exhaust. If my spelling is correct.
That is the 260Z Iam on about. I hope to have a budget of 15k. So anyhelp will be appreciated. We are also up to help any members that my need help with their cars. We have an engine crane and work stand, ect. Kind Regards Eddie

Hello Eddie and welcome to the light side!!! ;)

Wow that is a lovely car you have there - more photos please.

That 260 2+2 has been up for some time now.

240s are healthy money now, 260s less so and 260 2+2 another step down the price ladder. That is nowadays a fair price - however ....

There had been a lot of chat on this forum about that car - I can't find the link, hope someone else can - bear in mind it has a sunroof and if that bothers some as it was never a factory item and after market fitting wasn't always done well and it does reduce the structural rigidity. Having said that plenty of people with sun roofs on their S30s love them.

My advice is take your time and really understand these cars / meet other owners check out their cars, understand the common rust areas and problems on loom for. Unlike British Layland cars, parts are hard to find in the UK and getting rarer by the day.

Get the MOST SOLID bodywork as rust will cost you a pretty Penney to put right. Mechanicals are easy to fix and will available.

Good luck and believe me, once a Z gets under your skin you will be smitten forever!

Thanks for your response. They are already under my skin, with my obsession to detail I should be fine and thank you for the advice. We have a good welder at hand so not to worried. But the parts thing is as one phone call on the Jensen and any part is on the doorstep in a couple of days. The early 280zx,s are ok aren't they?

The early 280zx are similar to the 260z 2+2 , ie they rot in the same manner , value maybe a little less but not by much, where abouts in the country are you?

    Nice Jensen by the way

    I disagree with ^^^.

The value difference is noticeable ,ranging from 25-45%. ( all IMHO)

You can disagree as much as you like lol.

but as I didn't A/ define a little B/ quantify my statement properly.

I agree with the 25 to 45 % difference (up to a point) but there is now an overlap, my point was that the days of a 280zx being only worth as much as it's engine are thankfully long gone.

The car in the Autotrader ad is located in Keighley which has achieved some notoriety due to car dealers there.
A quick search on Google for Motorhub or Keighley Trade Centre should yield plenty information.

It's funny as I have a strong sense of smell and can wiff some rotten before it turns sour.
