Richie has hit the nail on the head oppatunatistic,if he had an offer of 40 k and turned it down he is a mug, making 10 k profit in space of a few months for doing nothing,How many of you lot on here would tun it down, seems like he is full of the prefebial you know wot
He wants to much for it he thinks it’s mint but it isn’t. When you look at it closely there’s a lot of jobs that have not been done nicely for a restored car. Brake and fuel lines are a mess all hand bent and badly installed. Which makes me think if simple jobs had not been done with love and care what about the big jobs ?that said the price he is asking includes vat so 9k of its vat

I wonder what made the guy selling the white 240Z advertise it at exactly £44,993?

An advertised amount is just a guess of it's value anyway and a starting point for negotiation surely.

How could anyone work out that their car is worth £44,993?
Just another version of everything being priced x pounds 99 pence, or a house being marketed at £299,995 etc.

A buyer wouldn’t pay VAT on a used car if buying from a private seller. If buying from a business, again there’s no VAT for a buyer to pay, but the dealer must pay VAT on the profit they make on the sale (as I understand it).

Don’t know about sell cars but a business pays vat on total cost invoiced not just on the profit.

VAT Margin scheme applies given he was not charged VAT when he bought the car from a private seller

Per HMRC website:
"If you sell second-hand vehicles on which you were not charged VAT, using the Margin Scheme will save you money.

Without the Margin Scheme, you would have to account for VAT on the full selling price of each vehicle.

But, if you use the Margin Scheme, you can account for VAT on the difference between the price you pay for a second-hand vehicle and the price you sell it for.

If you sell a vehicle for less than you paid for it, you will not have to account for any VAT on the sale"

He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who "needs" to sell the car. He can wait, and if he gets another £5k then why wouldn't he?

Personally think the car isn't worth £40k, let alone £45k.. but these are crazy times
