If you're looking for a GTO - don't check this link! Sorry only found it today and the auction was yesterday - I know, I know!!

And it looks like it was definietly one to go after - lots of original details - just check out the interior - and a 4 litre quad carb TVR V8 as well!!!!!

Life is cruel . . . .

*edit*

Another one here - bit of an oddball - it's a convertible with TWR engine (noticed it's an auto box). vents on the body are a bit odd.

A TWR Z engine....?

The first one's nice but with ".......vented front discs and aluminium rear drums......" I wouldn't want to be the one trying to stop it !!!

But I know of a better one, much more realistic.

Oh come on now - play fair! You're not talking about the Allegeretti are you? 500K might just as well be a million!

Spill the beans! I might be back in the market after LM Classic . . .

The big Question is -

just how DO you Restore the Bodyshell when the fibreglass has been bonded onto it several years ago, and both materials have ( at a wild guess, looking at the price ), corroded away nicely in the intervening 15-20 years ?

Tricky,

That TVR GTO Z went for £22k

but more importantly that bloody gorgeous ZTO further back in the thread reg 250 JYJ was auctioned back in March I discovered - went for £34,100 - a lot of money but with Dave Jarmin 300bhp claimed engine and it did look the tits:

Still - couple for sale at the moment:
FERRARI 250 GTO RE-CREATION on eBay, also, Ferrari, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 18-Jun-09 00:00:39 BST)

Seem to remember this went for about £5k then ended up in a dealers.

Interestingly he has a OM Sportscars/Scorpion body kit for sale separately

Also this one on classic car which is a small block V8 Scorpion - seems cheap at £19K ono considering it's had a 4 inch stretch to the front etc but then it is in Canada . . .

Ferrari 250 GTO Replica - Datsun 240Z for sale, classic cars for sale uk (Car: 55000)

Unusual in Silver but looks pretty tastey

Must say this is all very sad, its time someone said something. A Z is a Z & a 250 GTO ia a 250 GTO !!! Why ruin a Z by tring to make it look ever so slightly like a Ferrari  The end of the day its not a Ferrari & looks nothing like a GTO but hey I saved million's dong it this way

Thing is, I agree with you. To be fair the cars we've been looking at are done so the Z is already "lost" and to carry out a new conversion well, an affordable Z will be pretty rotten as said above - it doesn't make any sense as a donor any more.

250JYJ was a bargain and I've seen the dyno sheet for the engine 'claimed' is not correct. I led down between the twin pipes and he started it up..........I lifted myself off the ground with no hands like a jack !

Never seen a better copy, terribly authentic..........but it's awful to have done that to an S30 ! There still a few over here that are for sale and regularly crop up but I suspect most of them have basket cases for chassis and only one done to the standard of 250JYJ is worth doing (on a shell already converted) which will still cost far in excess of the cars' value (like most Z restorations) so it isn't a cheap project to take on. I suspect most start these projects with good intentions and then the hard reality sets in and it either gets sold on as an amazing potentiel project or as a rather cheap looking bodged up kit car on Halfords' wheels !

Get a Z or nothing.
