Heat/vent selector ... what goes here

Does anybody know or have a pic of what goes into the hole in the centre of this picture. It is the rear of the heater panel - the dark coloured arm is that of the top slider control to select HEAT v VENT, and the two brassy plates sitting above it slide relative to each other as the control arm swings left or right.

But to do this all three should be pinned through in some way. The hole in the selector arm is not threaded, so some kind of bar or rod? Not being threaded I'm not sure how it would stay in situ, but nor, if fixed firmly to the selector arm how it is missing unless removed in the past

This is the best picture I can come up with, looks to be some sort of pin.

Interesting. Is that a hex top or just the grease around? Can you tell how it fixes to or through the lever?

Unfortunately it's on the car, the picture was taken quite a few years back. I think it's just a round pin perhaps held in place by a serclip. Yes I think it's just a dob of grease.
