Has anyone got really wide 15" tyres?

you mean you're going up in size from 14"?

Edit, I see you mean higher profile? Have you a pic of how your wheels look at the minute?

My wheels are 14x7

Franky, see the side-on pic here. Mine also are 14x7.

The 195 60 on a 14 wheel is approx an inch and 3/4 small in overall wheel diameter, and near 7% short on rolling circumference (so your speedo and mileage is overstated). Going to a 195 70 is very close to the original 178 78 on a 14 wheel (which in today's money is closest to a 175 80).

There is lots of choice in 195 70 tyres and would be OK, but I would prefer to move to a slightly wider tyre to better fit the rims. That's where it gets difficult though. 205 60 are available but still leave the overall diameter and circumference short. 215 60 is what I would really like but only Nankang's are on the market. It can even be pushed to 215 65 but Nankang and Federal are about the only brands to fill that niche. I keep searching. But it keeps coming back to either a compromise onto Nankang tyres, or staying safe on 195 70 and having every brand to choose from (probably I'd go with Dunlop Street Response)

Its for that exact reason that my tyres are the wrong tyres!

I think it looks good, from for tire size. the Nankings get very good reviews, better than the street response? I guess its the ns2?

Have a look here also

I have 14" 6.5j wheels on the front of my car with 205 60/14 tyres, but the tyres look a bit small and even with lowered suspension, theyre not 'quite right'!
Should be 205 65/14 really to be closer to the correct rolling radius, of what i believe to be the standard 260 size of 195 70/14

Rears are 225 60/14

Again, that looks like a good combo, maybe slightly wide on the tyre for the rim?

It does get subjective though as I like a fairly square tyre.

Another option is the Uniroyal RainExpert 3.

Used on a lot of toy/kitcar type things, as they've got softer sidewalls and wear quicker than average, however they grip very well and work well as a fast road tyre.

Only one option for 14" wheels in the Avon CR6ZZ, but I've used them on a 7j and it worked just fine (didn't look stupidly stretched). 625mm overall diameter gives the 'right' proportions.

The EC1222/2009 Exemption is possibly good ammunition for an argument in favour of using the Advan HF-D via personal import?

So for a 240Z 175HR 14 = a profile of 82mm ? For a total wheel/tyre diameter of 643mm / 25.3"

Agreed ?

My reference is sligfhtly different: https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/175hr14-michelin-xas.html

Here the profile is given as 80%. But also note that the 'actual' with of a 175 they say is 178 .. but who knows where they are actually measuring across !? I've seen another reference saying 178 78 which I think is trying to come to a similar overall diameter of 25 inches. So yes a 195 70 gets close and a 215 65 even closer.

Respect for the 14inchers but mine are on 15 to allow bigger brakes and I prefer a lower profile (but none of this modern look stuff) for less tyre flex which is already worse in some makes than others.

Me too Frankish, I prefer a 'square' tyre which can complicate wheelarch fitting.

I've put a follow up into Yokohama, they've only just been released apparently, I know they said 'no' before but its worth chasing again.

The Avons would be great, just a bit too spendy for road tyres for me. Would work well as dedicated track though.

The Yokohama S760 would be ideal as comes in a 215 65 14. However I dont think available in the UK. Australia yes, but UK no.

Agreed, the tyres do bulge somewhat from the wheel rim, especially the rear, rather that than some ridiculous stretch tho!

Also agreed, i hate the way rounder edged tyres look fitted on modern vehicles,
most look like they need to be a bit wider and not so tucked under at the edges.
In most cases the wheels are wider than the actual tread area thats on the road, doesnt seem right to me

That effect however is much closer to tyres of the cars' period, can look good too and allows a wider road tread and still pass under unmodified arches.
