Ground Control 'Advanced Design' inserts - anyone?

Hi all,

My 240Z, which I only use on the road, came with shortened 280Z strut housings with weld on perches and coilover sleeves, and with Ground Control 'Advanced Design' inserts. (The car is fully heim jointed and also has front and rear swaybars.)

I'm currently running 250lb/ft front and 250lb/ft rear springs, and with the inserts set to their softest bump and rebound settings, the car still rides incredibly stiff. It's worth noting that the previous owner ran the car with 400lb/ft springs in the front (and 250lb/ft in the rear).

I'm not sure what specs the inserts are valved to, but reading other posts on this forum and on other sites, with the ride quality I get using the above spring rates I'm guessing the inserts have been built to be very firm.

It's hard to find any info at all online about the Ground Control inserts so I wondered if anyone here has any experience with them at all? From the little I have read it seems like they're designed for race purposes, need regular rebuilding, and aren't really suited for road use.

its the dampers that you'll need to spec. With suspension, springs are £60 each, dampers can be £2k each. you can get decent ones for £250 a corner upwards.

Apologies for my use of the word "insert" instead of "damper" in my first post, I've been spending a lot of time on US forums lately...

Indeed, I'm thinking of just replacing the dampers with something of a known spec

Have you tried contacting 'Ground Control' and asking them for info/advice?

I have, and they told me they wouldn't be able to help without knowing what specs the dampers were built to originally - especially considering their coilover kits now come with Koni single adjustable dampers instead of their own.
