Always good to do your home work though naz! I had a similar experience 3 years before I got mine where there was the perfect car for my budget but I let it go.
That was no bad thing, it made me do a lot of home work and know what I'm getting into. As the gentlemen here have said there are many subtle but important differences between 260 and 240 models and for each of those there are market variations and some changes between the years for the same model in the same market. So you need to be aware of them if you plan to import.
Parts also vary greatly in price; you can get a good deal or get ripped off on eBay but you will also find trusted sources such as Peter McDonald (PMAC) or Mike (Mr.F) who are very reliable with reasonable prices and ooooodles of experience / great advice. Also google places like the z store in the US and look at their prices for bits. Some are worth buying others cheaper to source here.
My advice is be patient, it's never the last car or the best, there is always another with it's own interesting facets!
