After many years of wanting a 240z I have finally found one.

Its a September 1971 car and has a few series features inside I believe

My plan is to wait until it arrives before deciding exactly what I am doing with it because it looks pretty clean despite needing a repaint.

But I would like to convert it to manual and probably to RHD.

I suspect that I will hanker after a little more performance so would like to build a uprated l28 engine in the future.

I have just watched to boat that the container in on go through the Panama canal so its still weeks away from arriving :(

I have been lurking for a few weeks trying to absorb as much info on this great forum as possible. I have still got a lot to learn!

Looks lovely. Drive it LHD and see how you get on ... it isn’t much different when you’re used to it ...

Looks like a great car from the pictures and a good starting point. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Where abouts are you?

Really looking forward to getting it. Not so much driving it with the autobox!

Based near Southampton and am a bit of a Subaru nut :p so I am sure I add a few choice parts at some point (rear diff/power steering rack)

I used to import sports cars from Japan and have had half a dozen or so 300zx's and a few Pulsar GTIR's. I am no stranger to rust and have restored quite a few VW splitscreens.

Boat is due New years eve so I suspect I wont get it till 3/4 Jan ish

It looks too good to chop to RHD.

    Why P/S?

I think you are right! Might need to find another to chop about.

I only mentioned the rack because my customer is asking if I could fit it to his 280z 2+2

Mine will be run as it is for now

Looks very clean :) I'd say if you're going to go and convert it to a manual then a RHD conversion may as well be done too!

Swapping to manual is a pretty easy thing to do and you can even retain the original pedal box if you can find a clutch pedal removed from a box or fit a complete pedal box..

Swapping a car to RHD properly is a lot of work!

I think my gearbox if its any good will end up in this car. What's funny is I've seen the car and sat in it. Its very period but looks like there has been new parts put on to maintain it. The annoying think his he got it a week after me but will arrive at least 2 weeks ahead of mine....

Hallie is a pretty good mechanic in my view so he's doing my RHD conversion for practice on my car first... should get it right for his

It's a small world then - great buy and I agree - great colour.

    Good choice.

Don't we all - after all, it remains a rather exclusive world in Europe - not really many of us !
