Goodwood Breakfast Club - Japanese Sunday (7th October)

Early birds get premium grid slots. Late arrivals end up in pit bays or further down the track towards the chicane.
There may be some selection of favoured cars by marshals.
Last time I was there the catering was dire ( albeit a Pistonheads gathering rather than Breakfast Club).

Anyone been there before and displayed their car who can comment on timings etc? Am I being too pessimistic?

Ali

The grid will be themed ( not for the 240/260/280Z).

Not sure of the theme.

If you arrive early, the marshals fill the sheds first, then when full, park around the circuit.

Filling the sheds usually takes approx an hour.

I’m sure if you arrived early the marshals would allow you to park on the circuit together.

Thanks Steve. Keen to get on the track so let's see what happens but also would love to turn up in a convoy of Zs.

What I LOVE about the Z scene is that every car is different and individual more so than other classic scenes.

Sincerely can't wait to see you guys!!!!

I've been to more of these than I can remember and timing isn't a big deal unless you're really fussy about where you may park. Goodwood specially select's cars of interest for 'Grid' parking which you'd have noted on your acceptance rather than just showing as 'Site access'. Annoyingly last year I had been offered Grid parking for this weekend before it was cancelled!

Paddocks typically fill up first and then they filter out from there with both ends of the track, impossible to guarantee where you may be. I don't personally intend to turn up till nearer 8am and I do not expect queues at this times either. You'll just notice a constant trial of people turning up through till late morning.

Regardless of who wishes to turn up when, hopefully I'll catch up with you all there an see your respective cars...

Hi All,

I am yet to choose between this and Bicester Heritage.

BEWARE - the police have started using mobile speed traps / cameras on the A & B roads towards Goodwood. 2 of our convoy were caught last breakfast club - 45 in a 40 zone and they got fined and points.

Cheers, Nick D

Probably going to get there for 8 or just before. Much as I’d love to convoy, Ali, getting there for 6:30 maybe a bit of a push.

For me too - I'm the furthest thing from a morning person! ;)

I may be later too now that I know I don't have to rush to be there.

I’m happy to meet you woody around 8 ish as I’m only 45mins away. 6.30 seems too keen for me. I don’t mind where we park as I’ve been before on supercar Sunday in my old lotus and seemed to get directed to different parking spaces each year regardless of time. Anyone else good for 7.30-8.00?

Yup, I'm up for an 07:30-08:00 meet up - would like to be there at 08:00 at the latest if poss. Getting up at 05:00 on a Sunday is a tad too much for me too.

Decided against doing an overnighter & will travel on the morning. However, the meetup at 7.40 is probably going to be a bit early as I plan to get to Goodwood about 8.15 - 8.30.

Huw & I will be meeting up at Membury services on the M4 at 7am so if anyone is travelling in that direction on Sunday morning, they are welcome to join us. We will then probably go A34, M3, M27 etc. to get there.

It seems as though people will be arriving at different times and parking in different places at the venue. Is there going to be a common meeting place at Goodwood? I have never been there before so not really able to suggest a meeting point.

Central meet point is a good idea, there's a food truck in the paddocks called the Nafi Wagon (converted WW2 truck serving breakfast) which has a number of benches by it. Usually a good place to meet up. Just decide a sensible time like 9am so that everyone is on site by then...

I must pre warn you all that my attendance is looking sketchy right now sadly, I've been dying of glandular fever since the beginning of last week and still not feeling any better yet so I'm going to see how the remainder of the week goes. My Z is also unlikely to be ready so I'd be in there in the MR2 only assuming I'm all good....

Sounds like a good place. Will probably be in need of a good breakfast & cuppa by the time I get there & parked up. 9am sounds a good time too. Any later and you are into brunch territory!

OK guys, no longer sure what time I'm arriving as my friend has offered to let me stay over which saves 20 mins and he's an early bird.

So are we all agreed to meet at the Nafi Cafe WW2 truck at 09:00 to have a Z club mini event of our own? Is anyone going to be there later?

Suggest we can the Sainsbury's meet idea given Ali's new humble abode for the evening and my health. Meet at 9am for those that can make it, I'll confirm my attendance nearer the time...
