I do get it mate but the fact is you don't live here anymore and you probably have no intention of coming back,if you asked the bloke in the street about the Brits that decided to move out,the bottom line is that they don't really give a toss, agree about the Maltese and Gibraltar,Cyprus bit, didn't know that but it's time to move on,we won ,you lost, simple ain't it,I have a spare room if you get thrown out of France

But Churchill ? Go read this and come back and discuss....:

https://www.google.fr/search?q=hitl...8#q=hitler+churchill+and+the+unnecessary+war+

Sean, I'm familiar with the book by this well-known Holocaust denier in which he relies on secondary sources and constructs another wild, born-in-the-USA conspiracy theory that ignores historical evidence in favour of his own prejudices. I'd call him -as some already have - a pseudo-historian. If we met in a pub (English of course) we'd have a right old going over on this one for sure.

I'm no Churchill acolyte by the way. 'Let them eat grass' is what he said when told striking miners families were struggling to feed themselves. Shameful. Not to mention his actions during WWI. I use his words merely to illustrate the inadequacies of the 'English-first' faction's imaginary ideal of 21st century 'England' and its heroes.

Phil.

I'd just like to add at this point that I cannot drink the tea commercially available here and have my PGTips exported, and in doing so support Brtian's balance of payments (albeit in a rather modest fashion). My (French) wife takes Twining's Earl Grey.

I think it just became less expensive for us this morning - thanks.

That could be fun . Put a really interesting bet on WITH STUNNING ODDS for Wales to Win:

It was thought's of Leicester that did it. A totally pragmatic decision for a mere twenty quid layout.

I was going to put a bet on for an interesting treble. 1) Brexit would win 2) Boris for PM 3) 4) Donald Trump for President. Couldn't find anybody to give me decent odds and that was three months ago.

In a way. Its a just such a pleasure (from time to time) to kick the "Status Quo" up the ****.

Anyone taking odds on N.Ireland unting the island within 10 years ? But there aren't for Scotland to leave and become part of the EU within 5.

OK, Sean, let's make it £5k
For or against Mike - I can't see it happening really - MUCH too sensitive and complicated an issue but it'll certainly carry on boiling on the stove 'til something less dramatic happens.

Scotland's a doddle !;)

Oh to stay in the UK, ofcourse, I wouldn't make a bet to Leave now would I? We're all Remainers here ;)

What is unting?
Is "unting the Island" roughly uniting with Ireland? or is it some modern sexual slang?

Could be shunting, hunting, untying although an unting is a plumb-weight or 'bob' !

Of course others might go straight for the sex.......

No, I think that they're complimenting Iceland.....

Worth a laugh ? If someone wrote this for a TV play, no-one would take it as credible :

but most especially this :

Sorry – this is the best one, a phrase repeated several times – “I voted out but didn’t really think we’d go out”…..people obviously voted without thinking anything except that this is their one and only chance to have a say in (or rather against) the running of their country....why have left such frustration in the running of our country to simmer like a volcanoe for so long ?

Is not funny in the least !

LOVE please as seen on TV at Glastonbury Sunday night with Coldplay !

Yeah, enjoy it while you can. If only Hodgson had been able to buy the team's sausages in pounds not kilos and avoided them seeing all those km signs on the M40 on the way over, we might have had a chance.

This will never, ever happen once we're out and Great again.

Looking forward to seeing the Icelandic heroes take on France now.

I'll bet that EUFA/FIFA or whomever will award a penalty to France to ensure that they win as its on home ground......

Maybe, just maybe there won't be an Exit.....but if so, who's gonna put it into motion and when ?

Who knows? There is some discussion that Cameron has played a blinder and that by resigning (as he guy has no backbone frankly) he has pulled a swift one on Boris and Gove and shirked all responsibility for evoking Article 50 and given them the poisoned chalice as it were.

Osbourne is shafted now, career development wise as well.

Half of me wants Boris to get it, just to see what he can do - he might play the buffoon, but he's a seriously bright bloke - too bright for his own good maybe (and ours). And this is his baby really. The ego battle between two Etonian/Oxford rivals should never have been allowed to get to this point though maybe.

The other half says give May a go - I need to read up on her a bit more to understand where she lies on a few topics.

If Jeremy Hunt gets to be leader, I'll MOVE to Europe just to get away from him ...

And I voted OUT, btw. And when asked why, I say your price for democracy is not my price.

MY price ? I didn't vote the UK in or vote out/remain.

Perhaps Britain didn't feel it could muster a majority being only half-in / half-out with negociated special priviledges to be able to change things from within which I feel is always better than waiting to see what'll happen once out completly.

Anyway, time will tell.:)

More than one million people is a big enough majority, some didn't vote so they can't moan if it doesn't go their way,why go on about it,you have a good life over there and will continue to do so,wot you gonner do when France votes to leave, that's on the cards from wot I'm hearing ,not that us Brits are bothered,it's time to look after number one first so enjoy wot you have

A majority is a majority
The people who did not vote should really hang their heads in shame no matter which way they would have voted

But there again it was at least the 72 percent turnout was the highest % turnout to vote since1992

when you look at the actual figures it reads
37% voted to leave
35% voted to remain
28% could not be bothered to vote either way

Really time for all to accept it and to get on with it and we get the best deal that is available for the future of the county
