I'm looking to 'treat' myself to a 240 / 260 / 280z 2-seater.

Finding one in New Zealand is pretty tough.

We're right-hand-drive here just like back in Blighty so I've tried sourcing in UK, Japan and Australia but unless I want to part with my first-born, it's not gonna happen.

But ... there seem to be quite a few in the USA and a Google search suggested that you good chaps here might be the experts on LHD to RHD conversions.

So I've come to search, search and search the archives to see what I can find out :)

Other cars I have in the garage are a Cobra (still being built - with Lexus 1UZFE engine), a 1972 (like me) Toyota FJ40 restoration and the daily driver is a 99 Passat 2.8 V6 4wd station wagon.

so, gidday and apologies in advance for the many, many, MANY questions I'm gonna ask :)

The main problem with doing the RHD conversion is finding the RHD car with the parts to do it with.

so ... more searching required!!!

Thanks for the quick reply, Mike.

So I need to find a decent LHD and a donor RHD car. Any pointers for any UK-based scrappies / parts suppliers who specialise in these cars / parts?

Usually, E-Bay UK makes a good place to start by finding both cars. and possibly AutoTrader UK. I suspect most wreckers here in the UK will not be advertising 240Zs!

This is a very specialised market and quite a few people are wanting to do what you are proposing. Therefore enough decent LHD cars and decent RHD donors are going to be hard to find. Then you have to get the car to the other side of the world!

My advice would be to keep looking in NZ and Oz and up your budget. If that fails go for LHD.

gone are the days when you could buy a scrapper for under 500 pounds

I too are from NZ . What is your budget? A nice 240Z reached $31,500 NZD, and did not reach reserve a few months ago.
I know a 240Z in Auckland that could be for sale if you are a genuine buyer. It is a very very nice car, and is ready to roll.
