Garage envy

My neighbour built this - he doesn't even own the house he's renting it.

Fortunately I can't see it in summer.

He's a decent guy and I wouldn't complain but it is big for a 4 year old!

It looks really nice, i particularly like the stairs and veranda, but as you say, a bit OTT for a kids play house, especially as it's on stilts for all to see!

Kids play house, yeah, right! I'd bet money he hides away in there from the wife AND the kids :) . Very nice though.

Ok, need to start spec'ing up the Garage equipment for my new double garage...and home for the white 260z....so have some questions for you good folks...want to get it right first time!

Lighting...whats the best...led strips, led recessed? what colour hue is best? and positioning? in my 6m deep x 5.5m wide space (will have my wifes S3 in with the 260z)

Walls/ceiling - I assume flat white best?

Flooring - Resin or tiling and best colour?

Humidity control - already have Meaco Zambezi ready to go in

Heating?

Fume extraction?

What else should I spec?

All suggestions gratefully received

thanks

I'd go for led panels, cool white. Have them wired in zones so you don't have to have them all one at the same time.

White walls and ceiling

Epoxy floors seem best if applied correctly, tile can be good too. Colour I'd go for light grey, easy to find small parts when you drop them.

If the garage is properly insulated/ventilated etc it shouldn't need dehumidifying, but good to have.

Heating is handy in winter but not essential depending on where you live.

Fume extraction, good to have but not essential

What else?
Storage - shelves, cupboards etc
The more power sockets the better, saves trailing cables across the garage.

powerfloat the floor, it'll never dust, it'll be amazingly level and hard.

3.5-4.5k led's max. don't go for any higher.

by a box of 10 10mm sockets and spanners to save trying to find them all the time!

For positions, you can't have too many, as high as possible.

don't waste the space on a modern car.

4 post lift

milling machine

lathe

Thanks for all of you input...

Builders have finished so went for the Led panels, cctv installed, started to paint the walls white (what a pita painting concrete breeze blocks are!) ceiling to paint, grey pvc flooring on order, humidifier to install, tool storage being ordered soon, shelves to put up, radiator installed (gets cold in Welwyn) ..... etc etc

Hopefully then can get the car out of storage an into her new home!

Oh yes, and then can get around to all of the other jobs I need to do ...otherwise known as the wife’s list!

Does not compute - thats usually the first list to get done!

It's looking good so far. I left the inside of my brick garage unpainted cos it would be a pain to do - breeze blocks are even worse. Plan where the sockets are going to go, and I know you're not going to rely on just those two!

It did look absolutely sensational and I remember it being brought back 'from the dead' - but my '66 was the same - couldn't get on with it once it was done. Shame, so it had to go! Is that a 944 S2 I spy in there?

I started this Thread to cover garage buildings but I'm also envious of your vast collection of cars. I've been to one of your garages and that was a eye opener.
Ah soz. I should have read it properly ;).

In that case, the only thing I can ad is that you’ll never have enough space
