I'm using the Meaco DD8L Desiccant ones. It's important to use a Desiccant one in a cold garage as the compressor ones don't work well and will freeze up. I think I read that below 15C the compressor ones start to loose efficiency.

Thanks - not as expensive as I thought ...

Yes. I Can't quantify it, but they are a bit pricey to run. I had the same problems as Mike and Dale one time, so well worth the cost.

I took a quick look at the Hofmann insulated sectional garage doors - bit pricey for me though :-(

Yeah, insulated sectional garage doors can cost thousands depending upon size obviously. I'd put off getting one for ages but when I got the car it gave me a good excuse. :)

I have the Pro Breeze 10L Desiccant Dehumidifier (https://probreeze.com/products/dehumidifiers/10l-desiccant-dehumidifier/) which does a good job so far but I've only had it a couple of months so we'll see. I realise that not everyone cares about such things but I also have a Sensor Push Thermometer/Hygrometer (https://tinyurl.com/yxjz9y7z) so I get a nice historical view of temperature and relative humidity in the garage. I calibrated it with a Boveda Hygrometer Calibration kit (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000A3UBLA/ref=pe_3187911_185740111_TE_item) and it was about 1.5% out.

at that size, worth checking distances etc Boundaries to check if you need building control and you’d need to be careful that you don’t need building regs depending on the finished size.

I’d guess the min they’d accept is 150mm of hardcore/type one followed by 150mm slab, that’s without walls being built of it.

My neighbour built this - he doesn't even own the house he's renting it.

Fortunately I can't see it in summer.

He's a decent guy and I wouldn't complain but it is big for a 4 year old!
