Well looks like a minimum of 3 weeks at least. Thankfully I have the car with me at home - maybe I'll finally get some work done on it!

To your point I just went to the petroleum station and horded fuel!!!! Both Q5 and Z!!!

The Z took 20 mins to fuel as the admiring crowd of 4 - while respectfully socially distanced - were taking photos and asking me all about the car.

They even bent my arm really hard and “made me” pop the bonnet and rev the engine a lot!

At least now the dual carriageway will be clear and I will have the time to finally get the bloomin’ needles / AFR sorted once and for all without people getting in the way!

In every problem there is an opportunity!

But Ali. You are only supposed to go out once a day to exercise. I don't think Mr Plod will accept that you are exercising your right foot. ☣️

Well, we have no plod here - not even for serious crimes!!! They turned our local station into flats years ago and the nearest plod is 30 mins away!!!!

I am on the way to the supermarket officer - just doing it briskly and watching the AFR at the same time to make sure I don’t damage the environment by burning too much fuel.

BTW - what is the protocol if the plod stop you? Stay in the car and shout through a closed window?

Just don't stop in the first place, no protocol to worry about then!

You think the panic buying was bad so far - just wait until the supermarkets open today! I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some Black Friday-esquire scenes on the news.

On a more serious note, be safe people. One of my closest friends at a pathology firm working on this with the NHS is telling me that the infection rates are doubling every 3 days at the moment. So while we, so far are OK, there is good reason to be appropriately cautious.

At least we are able to feed our families and play with Zs to distract us a little - let’s be grateful for that and look after the needy in whatever way we are able to.

I'm glad the Z is in my garage at home now , I can finally sort out fitting that clear air box that's been sat there a while and fit the new wilwoods , luckily I modified the brackets before they shut the Uni down,

I do have some CAD work to do from home though on ventilator parts to help out

    Stay safe

I was thinking about members who have their cars at paint-shops etc. Ian hasn't had any luck with his 260.

    Seriously worrying times!

I'm not one to worry about things too much, glass half full etc. But, saw an interview on the tv yesterday with a previously healthy 39 year old lady who had only survived after a number of days on a ventilator, really brought it home how vulnerable we all are.

The early advice that the virus only seriously effects the elderly or those with underlying health problems, was either completely wrong or, the virus has mutated.

My youngest son's girlfriend is a nurse in the USA - they have a seriously ill 5 year old girl on the ward!!!

Be safe and enjoy life as much as you can

Those statements were true and the virus hasn't mutated. (in an extreme way at least). One healthy person getting sick is no more evidence of virulence than one smoker not dying of cancer proves smoking is good for you.
    Keep calm everyone :)

The virus has mutated in fact to another strain that spreads even quicker than the original noted in Wuhan, but its not clear whether or not its any more dangerous.

As said keep calm, I'm still at work along with a couple of other key engineers and 100's of other line workers. Companies are being pretty selfish...

I sincerely hope your right; but I listened to a 'medical expert' a couple of days ago who stated it HAD mutated, and will continue to do so - it's how viruses thrive.

Not entirely but the bigger problem is that there won't be enough beds and ventilators to treat the young and otherwise healthy who ought to get betetr and survive. Confinement isn't to stop the virus spreading - it's to slow it down so the medical services can cope.
Some might have the virus and show no symptoms but they'll pass it on to others who risk being seriously ill or dying.

Yes, keep calm but respect the virus and take the very necessary precautions.

Going back to age etc - here, the medical services are having to select who to treat based upon age and medical history of the patient. Anyone showing the symptoms in retirement homes for example will be left to die in their beds, no visitors !

It IS serious and in an ideal world, our conutries should have locked down weeks ago and begun testing as many people as possible, isolating those positive. China did it but it's easier in an authoritarian country.

So, my local builder’s merchants were shut this morning. I drove to the roofing merchant and bought the “essentials” before we lock down the household.

While there, they got an email saying all staff to go home by 13:00 and closed for 3 weeks. Meanwhile ALL the builders in the South East had descended on them and their yard was rapidly thinning out!! But then that makes sense, I did two trips and spent £450; I would normally take my time with and purchase as I go from one job to another. But I’ve stocked up for 4 jobs in one go.

    FYI ...

Meanwhile, I drove past screwfix - the man in the yellow jacket outside said they are considered to be an essential service - but will only allow click and collect. No customers allowed inside.

Just seen Sean’s comment. To echo his points, my GP friends helping out in hospitals are telling me that the occupancy rate is 80% at present. While less than expected, it’s close to capacity and they are already struggling to find enough ventilators! So be safe chaps!
