From Original su style to triple webers or janspeed turbo?

There's an alternative point of view, and it's the view that *obviously new* parts can sometimes look a little bit out of place on a 40+ year old classic car.

If a car is customised in a 'resto mod' style then all well and good, but on something like a Samuri Conversions period-modified car the Spanish license-made Webers and a brand spanking new inlet manifold with anodised linkages runs the risk of looking a little out of place.
I get that, and I'm kinda in agreement with you Alan, however the reliability from new ones, plus the electronic ignition, maybe outweighs the originality issue?
I've been having this same conversation with Paul, the owner/restorer, and ultimately it's his decision. He's spoken to
Dave Jarman as well, and I think it's his opinion to go with new?
I was really tempted with the 70's Original Samuri set, respectably priced but will wait and see.
Might still get them myself

I've not used Webers myself - mine are Dellorto, but I've read many suggestions that the Spanish built ones aren't as good as the older Italian ones.

I do love the patina of my carbs/manifold/linkage. The airbox rather ruins the period effect, but does make such a difference I keep it.

I think it's certainly the case that buying new WON'T save you the effort of buying lots of different jets and /or dyno time to get it optimal for your engine.
At best, I think new gives you a somewhat higher chance that you're not starting with something crusted up or worn somewhere, that no amount of tuning will sort out.

I/we have been offered the Real deal period set, from an original Sam, for very reasonable money.
Hoping just to confirm a few things, then see if we can go forward from there

Could you please tell me where I can get a cold airbox like yours? I am fitting Jenvey ITB's and want to go down the cold air route.

Thanks

I am starting to collect the parts to fit Jenvey ITB's ( Historic ) aswell. Will you be doing thread on fitting ?. I have done a couple of such conversions on four cylinder Ford engines but not a six cylinder Datsun. It is always good to see other peoples ways of doing things.

Awesome I’m also switching this winter to Jenvy heritage so would be interested to see what other peeps are putting in to accompany them.
