STOP PRESS

Brittany dates have changed!!!

Due to overwhelming pressure from interested parties, we have put back the Golf of Morbihan (Brittany) weekend which will now be held on June 6/7/8th.

Why, because the Le mans 24 hour race is the weekend after - 14/15 and plenty of people want to combine both to warrant the trip.

The programme will start the same with a beach party the Friday 6th, and planned over the weekend, an island boat trip, a visit to the Dukes of Brittanys' summer chateau, the medieaval  city of Vannes, scenic routes around the Golf and more besides fine food and great company.

We will endeavour to keep you amused during the week until Le  Mans - don't forget that race qualifying starts the Wednesday evening - really not to be missed!

IMPORTANT

Your accommodation for Le Mans needs to be booked NOW.

Brittany - Golf Of Morbihan Port Navalo (near Vannes)
2 hrs drive from Roscoff and St Malo, 3 hrs drive from Caen, 3 1/2 hrs drive from Cherbourg

Friday 6th June - welcome beach party with cold buffet
Sat am - boat trip into Golf Of Morbihan with crepe (pancake) meal
Sat pm - touristic drive and visit to Château Suscinio
Sat eve - friendly meal in local restaurant (wouldn't surprise me if fish was on the menu)
Sun am - leisurely drive to the medieval town of Vannes, walkabout tour before delicious meal in a rearby restaurant
Sun pm - depart for some, for the rest, a gentle drive around the Golf to CARNAC (Frances' Stonehenge)
Sun eve - restaurant meal to be confirmed

Mon - depart for some, for the rest (who are possibly staying on for Le Mans) we will propose various outings, there is a motor museum nearby and the great city of Rennes. I think Cathy and I will offer everyone an aperitif at our house before people drive on (1/2 hr) to Suzy Huntleys' campsite (between Cholet and Saumur - 1 1/2 hrs drive from Le Mans).

Tues - local visits will be proposed, however there is a good go-kart circuit nearby..... and an evening BBQ is proposed at the campsite.
Weds - drive up to Le Mans but why not visit the tank museum and Château at Saumur on the way ?
Weds eve 7pm - first qualifying session - are we gonna see a 350Z against the 911s ?

IMPORTANT - Because the the Brittany w/e is a bank holiday here, accommodation must be booked VERY SOON !

Dear friends,

Due to enormous difficulies finding accomodation and restaurants in Brittany on a bank holiday weekend, we have regretfully changed the location and theme of the planned weekend. However, we think you will appreciate that which we have planned.

The new location is at a calm camping site between the towns of Vihiers and Argenton-Château which, with rentable mobile homes alongside ample space for those campers amongst you, enables everyone to be together !

So the theme has changes radically :

Friday evening: welcome B-B-Q alongside the swimming pool
Saturday morning and afternoon : bicycle and boating tour with lunchtime picnic in the marsh canals in the Marais Poitevin
Saturday evening : apperitifs at Sean and Cathys' house before going onto a restaurant not far from the campsite
Sunday morning : (yes, it's been done before but it was so popular) karting - the midday meal and afternoon is still being planned
Sunday evening : B-B-Q at the campsite and grand boule competition !
Monday morning : outing to be finalised but with an eye on the eventual departure routes of our guests !

The price per person is not expected to be higher (and perhaps lower) than that planned in Brittany.

The price per tent is 11 euros per night (all included - tent, people, car etc); the price per mobile home is 100 euros for the three nights (sheets included). The mobile homes sleep a max of six in - 1 double bed and 2 twins if people want to reduce further the cost !

There is a large-ish supermarket in nearby Vihiers and bread/croissants can be delivered to the campsite upon demand.

We hope that this relatively late change won't deter you from joining us and relaxing / letting off steam in the countryside - the weekends' theme !

For those who haven't already sent a deposit, please send a cheque for 50 euros per couple payable to Club Zen de France and sent to:

For those who prefer to send an English cheque, please make them out for 30 pounds payable to Sean Dezart and send them to:

Merci to all your club's members that went to France last weekend.
I really enjoyed their presence. They displayed great cars and where fun people to be around.
I hope they had a weekend as good as mine, and see you all next year.
