Yeah WTF,You've spelt ALLAN wrong get it right in future!

As you said WTF, The way things are going there will be more H & J reg cars on the road than K reg, I notice people aren't importing 240's that require K or L reg or even 260's or 280's:devil: you must all be after free road tax:D

Allan people ship over whatever straight car they can find these days because nice straight cars are very thin on the ground the US now aswell according to Will Galliers, he will view 15 to 20 cars & only find one amongst them that is worth fetching over.

Don't know about over there but over here that is true in 90% of cases, usually 'cos they're cheaper and bear in mind that over here the only S30 alternative to a 240Z is a 260Z 2+2 !

with most car clubs you would end up with less and less cars over time, surely it is better to have more cars coming onto the Z scene wether they are LHD ,imports or RHD conversions.

And that boys and girls is what it all boils down to, keeping Z's on the road, how you do it is not an issue IMO as long as your doing it

Remember...........no Z's.............no Z Club

So my 240z is not a real 240z its pretending to be one ? a designer knock off !!

It's a realy 240z, I guess it's saying it's a US car lhd converted to rhd? Which is wonderful, but if I wanted a UK rhd Z, lovely as your car is, it wouldn't be for me :)

I've got a 73 240 that would be perfect for a 71/72 soul as it's not a bad shell, just not the year I want, and I've very nearly bought a few bulkheads/souls to convert it, but in the end I couldn't bring myself to do it as even if I got away with it I'd know it wasn't what I wanted :)

Well, it is trying to be something it isn't, (a JDM) in which case it would have been a lot less hassle to get one from Japan.

Where does it mention JDM ? Why want an original JDM - they were lower down the original spec. list than a UK car. And getting (a good) one now will cost you big bucks so a copy done here, why not....but this isn't it !

This is the car I'm on about complete with Fairlady badges no doubt.

I don't care what year, whether it's LHD/RHD, import or UK.

I just like 240s. If I was worried about all that 'purist' snobbery shit I would've bought an MG or a TR

Dave's car is just about the best looking 240 around (except mine ha ha) and it would defo be my first choice!

no rust, no snobbery, no worries.

Aaahh - THAT one !

Don't tell him but those red centre wheel caps don't go with the overall colour scheme, the bonnet badge (a always) looks like a cheap addition and as for the lightweight windscreen - I think he's taking the weight-saving far too seriously - Skiddy's going to beat him in any case......

Anyway, I thought it was just an internet project - he'll probably have it parked in his front room and watch Loftstory from it.

"Lower down in the original spec"? Are you getting confused with the north American spec HLS30U models?

Japanese home market always had a wider choice of Z models than export markets ( faster and slower, cheaper and more expensive ). You certainly can't accuse the first generation Japanese models of being "lower down" in spec when they had models - arguably - both higher and lower spec than the UK market models at the same time.....

When the L24-engined Z models were released in Japan ( with five new models added to the range ) they were equal to any of the Export market Z models, and easily superior to some market variants.

Perhaps you are getting confused with the north American market HLS30U models, with their soft springing, 'relaxed' ( :p ) damping, soft anti roll bars ( with none on the rear ) and slower steering rack ratio? 'Dumbed Down and Softened Up' is a good mantra to remember them by.

No, I'm not confusing with the 'raved-about' US models - jeez, to have sold so many, the competition must really have been crap.....and expensive crap at that !

I'm not comparing the faster and more expensive S30s to those available in the UK market either.

I am referring to those models that were produced without standard items on UK cars eg clocks, front and rear spoilers perhaps....here I bow to your knowledge and your archives.

There models made to be sold less expensively which I assume was to get under a tax bracket or simply to 'steal' customers away from other brands who would have been put off by the price of the 'loaded' models.

In any case, it's clear that one can't say ' a copy of a JDM Z' because as you've pointed out, there were so many variants (as standard) and then the factory options list....then no doubt the dealers' option list....then period mods by owners....

Question is : were there any HS30 models superior in spec. to UK cars ?
