    And more mate -

Had a fantastic weekend at the NEC with the family.

Seriously, good advertisement for the marque though. If got masses of interest from the public, of all ages, some familiar with Z's and others not. What did surprise me was the amount of Zedders who weren't members of this Z Club or were but not participants on the forum. I'd also like to that thank the club members who voted and those who stopped by for a chat, fantastic people who made my weekend, living so far north away from many of the meets, shows etc it was a rare opportunity to meet fellow club members and have a chat, get advice etc. A very strong contingent of zedders who had flown over from Ireland, like I said it they made my weekend.

This is great news, well done buddy! Any chance you can do a quick write up with pics for the front page of the forum?

We are all very proud of you and your achievement and it seems fitting to give it prominence onto front page!

    No problem

As the car was needed for the show on Friday 22nd I had it transported down in a covered trailer on the Thursday (I can recommend the company used if anyone wants the details). I couldn't personally get down until Saturday 23rd. On the Friday I received a phone call from Practical Classics at the NEC show saying that I had won the Restorer of the Year Award and in my absence Mike Brewer from the TV Show Wheeler Dealers and Practical Classics Magazine editor Danny Hopkins had announced my 240z the award winner.
On Saturday morning I arrived at the Show with my family to find my car on the Practical Classics stand with the other finalists and officially received the Trophy. The car received constant attention over the weekend with all interested parties expressing their admiration for Datsun 240z's (not just specifically mine). I met lots of people, some who had never seen a 240z before, some who remembered them "in the day", some were past and present owners and some were Z Club members and some forum contributors.
After a great weekend it was time to drive the car home from Birmingham to Whitehaven in Cumbria a distance of 230 miles (3-4 hours). This was a baptism of fire as since its completion despite clocking up 700 miles the furthest the car had been driven continually was a 60 mile round trip, it had never been on a motorway or been driven in the rain/wet. I needn't have worried though as despite several patches of heavy rain on the motorway the car and all of its ancillaries performed perfectly. This was excellent news as well as being a huge relief it meant the forthcoming trip down to Donnington shouldn't be a problem (touch wood).
I had a fantastic weekend enjoying fellow car enthusiasts admiration of the marque and met some great new friends.
