EZ Electric Power Steering

Having been laid up for a couple of years dealing with NH Lymphoma and associated stays in hospital, at times my mind turned to my 260Z and what could be improved. I have had no problem driving the car with a track suspension setup with negative camber and larger tyres which tended to make the steering somewhat heavier. However, I knew that my Z guru Stewart Wilkins down here in Sydney had fitted electric power steering to a couple of customer cars so I bit the bullet whilst the car was idle and had him fit a kit to my car. He uses the EZ Electric power steering made in the Netherlands http://www.ezpowersteering.nl/25/170/EZ_ELECTRIC_POWER_STEERING.html
It was only last week that I had the first opportunity to drive the car since the kit was fitted and I am amazed at how it has been transformed. The steering is quite light, (but not excessively so) at low speeds and loads up as speed increases. I must say this is one of the best things I have fitted to the car and makes it even more of a pleasure to drive. The open road beckons!

Glad you can enjoy the car again! Do you have more info on the kit? Is it a universal kit that requires fabrication into the Z steering column or a complete bolt in solution?

Thanks,

Hi, the kit comes from the Netherlands as a complete replacement steering column. You remove your old column and install the new one and wire it up
The motor sits up out of the way, you wouldn't know its there unless you look up under the dash.it apparently uses a connection that fits between the speed cable and speedo to be able to regulate the steering feel based on your speed. I have seen that they now have a GPS setup instead and also offer a tracking option if your car is moved or stolen. My kit cost me just over $3000AUD which included the freight, fitting etc.
It would probably be cheaper for you guys up north.Hth

Thanks for the info, I emailed them for more details and to compare to the US kits. Looks like a decent kit that utilises new parts. €1350 so similar price to other companies and probably cheaper shipping.
