I have a 280Z US styleeee

It has fuel injection and an exhaust system which inc a cat

Can I just unbolt ALL the injection system inc all the masses of pipes and chuck it in the bin and replace with triple webers? Would this work ok even with the low compression head etc

Also can I have some exhaust recommendations inc manifold please.

I cut the rear silencer off today and it sounds like a tractor

I reckon you can stick carbs on and a 6 branch.

I wouldn't think triples are necessary though.

Try standard 240Z carbs.

May been throwing away money with triple webers without upgrading work on the head and a modified cam.

True enough, lack of experts round this way

Was also wondering about the fuel injection I have....If I rip it out won't it affect anything else on the car since it's all electronic

Also a shame the injection system itself can't be tinkered with to work with cam and head work, after all the trend now is to retro fit injection to classics...fitted it to my old Etype

As you said, its a 'trend'.

Have a look over on HybridZ, I'm sure there is some info on there about it, megasquirt, ITB's etc

I've been following this thread on retro rides

he's megesquirting his L28 and has just got a new intake manifold,

I have been running Jenvey ITBs with aftermarket Emerald ECU and Bosch injectors for about 8 years
Car makes around 293 HP and runs mid 12 second quarter miles. (in your face Samuri whimps ;) )

Nissan FI system is ok and can be made to perform its a question of what you want and how much you have

As an Electronics engineer I'm not a massive fan of Megasquirt, its all open source build from kit, and most people solder like they weld (and weld like they solder) and haven't got a clue how to fault find electronics problems (no offence) why bother when you can buy one of the best bang for bucks ECU's for around £5-600 and get a free Dave Walker thrown in (although some folks don't value that aspect mainly due to Dave not suffering fools to well and which the car world has in abundance) Dave is one of the foremost aftermarket injection specialists in the UK having written loads of books and one for Haynes

As it happens that's exactly the combination fitted to my Etype.

Even with this system on the Z it would mean junking all of whats on there I assume as throttle bodies all different. Would be interested to know if the standard manifold could be utilised.

Who is Dave Walker? Emerald?

Although I restored and rebuilt my E I left the trickery to Etype UK....so you see I'm a total div when it comes to wires and stuff.

So a system plus fitting is gonna cost what...4 bags? Unless we can utilise the std manifold
