Engine removal - why drain oil?

It makes it much easier to handle too and roll about.

I like that idea better - will get some castors ordered!

Out of interest, where is the longitudinal CofG ? Is it where the engine supports are?

Not sure chap but also I don’t think you need to worry about it. My old engine just sits on the cross members of the 2x4 at the back of the engine and on the flat part of the sump. The engine mounting brackets are only there to stop it rolling about.

Surprisingly I could just about lift the bottom end myself without the head. Given that I can dead lift 150Kgs I would say it’s not far off that. So with the head on it’s probably another 20kgs. With hindsight you’re defo better off using your engine crane and saving your back!!! ;)

Thanks. I won't be trying to dead lift it any time soon! I'm only a little guy so have had to learn to use lifting equipment to my advantage!
