Electronic ignition and rev counter 240Z

I'm moving to electronic ignition (280z) for my 240Z, will I need to have the rev counter recalibrated as I've been told the signal will be a pulse?
thanks

240z is a inductive loop rev counter if your are still using a coil it should still work as is it picks up
a pulse from the 12v feed to the coil that passes through the loop
Yes a common upgrade.

Hi Kieron, I am fairly new to the Z Club. I have a 1977 Datsun 280Z. Apparently I need to buy the transistor in the distributor, but I really don't know what this is. Would you know where i can buy a new distributor and ignition module (which is what i think the garage means, but i am not sure).

Hi
Sorry I don’t know. My mechanic simply made some wiring mods per diagrams I found online
