Will there be seperate trophies for stock & mod' 240z and 260z (4 trophies) or are we lumping them all in as S30 ?

I say we go for S30 stock and mod' due to dwindling numbers - although running a late 260z I am probably shooting myself in the foot here !

This was my implication in the wording of the revised rules.

tony, a few years ago i was at the Pod and saw a beetle do very low 10's, every one there was gobsmacked to say the least. he ran a 2.5 scat motor with nitrous and a turbo, all fibreglass front end and rear. it was reputed that later on in the year he broke into the 9's..... jeeeze that was a scary car and one only used for the strip!

Where's your entry form filled in and with membership number and local group affiliation? All points were awarded on the basis of completed forms in my possession at the end of the day.........

But, many thanks for the video footage....

Retrospective form filling or a grovelling PM may be acceptable for first time offenders...

BTW, thought I'd introduce another element - local group rivalry. Currently:

SEZ Group 20 points
South Central Group 11 points
HOE Group 7 points
Rest Nil point

Hi all

Just a thought Neil, maybe all that extra fuel could be an advantage with the exta weight on the back wheels? I only had 1/4 of a tank and couldnt get any grip. Hopefully I'll have some rubber to match yours in the next round!!

There is an "Invitational" category for non-members to have their runs included in the listings, but I hadn't thought it necessary to extend this to spectators (that'll be everyone else that was there, then).

Hope the operative word in the quote above is "yet".

Tbh I would have joined there n then, and I maybe wrongly expected to be able to, but as I didn’t see any means or way of doing so (no stand or dispay?) so I didn’t lol.

Yes I could click the link above, but that’s just me - I rather do things in person n wait for a show :D

This may have been stated elsewhere but it would be interesting to know the 1/4 mile road test times for standard cars, as a benchmark.

Seems it was a good day, I may be tempted to give HOE some support! I watched the rally and then spent Sunday 'coving' in the kitchen. Decorating winds me up when I have a Zed to fettle!

Rob... Mr F ,Neil 300. Dr Shemp and me are ALL using STANDARD cars. And we've posted our times!!
Now get down there on April 10th and show us all wot a modded 240Z can do. I need someone there to give Skiddell a good thrashing!!

Yes I will have a go, it seems really good fun, my main concern is wrecking my diff or box! Mr F deserves the all support he got last weekend.

I did a 0-60 sprint at Silverstone a couple of years ago and was surprised how quick a moderately modified Zed could go. However I could start when I wanted, at Santa Pod it's all about reaction times I think. I bet the first second makes all the difference.

I've just noticed that this thread has 1500 views, not bad eh?

Dont worry about reaction times mate, you get several results on your slip (one of which is reaction time) but your quarter time is measured from crossing the start line to crossing the finishing line
Give it a shot Rob you'll love it, as long as the mechanicals are in good order in the first place it shouldnt break them, after all I should imagine that some of the track work you do is going to stress the car just as much.

That first second really is important - a fact I hadn't had rammed home to me so strongly until Sunday. I just couldn't get my time down into the 15's!

I had 16.2, 16.3, 16.4 and 17.7 (we'll forget about that one eh?). My reaction times varied a bit but it was the start that kept foxing me - I just kept wheelspinning. In March last year I ran 15.9 on my first ever go and I'm sure the car is faster now. BUT last year my clutch stank after each run, which didn't happen at all on Sunday. Even when I tried to pull away gently and then floor it I still spun 'em.

So why was this? I'm sure my technique is poor, but with so many "bad track" comments, can someone explain what was wrong with the track? It wasn't wet, so why was it slippery? Was it down to the cold? Was it damp air affecting the track?

Would dropping my tyre pressures make that much difference?

(and as an aside, I wonder what my 0-60 time is)
