kind of.
the trouble is when in parking mode the opening and closing of the door triggers the parking mode emergency recording in protected mode.
once its finished a 2 min or whatever it is cycle it turns itself back to standby and isn't recording.

I've already set off before all this happens hence why i have issues with using it.
i think if you could supply 12v to it as soon as you unlock the door that would solve the problem as it switches the camera on normally when it gets 12v supply.
trouble is ive slammed the door shut before i turn on the ignition
the 512 is supposed to be the better camera so please let me know how you get on with it rob.

one more thing make sure you check the card contents once every few months.
mine went corrupt on me the other month and only found out when i checked the camera for some footage i wanted and it wasn't there:(

Jimbo I think your's is faulty. I have 'turned on' my parking mode and accepted the default sensitivity of Medium. Depending on how hard I shut the door it will switch on as your's does but mine keeps recording after the 2 mins. The 2 min recording started by the 'shock' is locked for future reference (in case it was a 'shunt') but the rest is not (as you would expect).

Have you tried updating the firmware?

Just bought 2 of the Nextbase 512G's from Argos for Xmas for my 2 sons following the good internet reviews.

It seems ok so far but I only bought a 16GB SD card and they only save about 30 mins of recording before overwriting. Not a major problem.

As usual with these things at my age it takes a little while to fully understand everything and I always print the manual. However the defaults are such that you can just use it 'out of the box' once charged and you have downloaded the latest firmware.

Update on the parking mode. I've had mine switched on and so it records a 'protected' file each time I slam the door. These will fill the SD card if left undeleted. To delete them is a bit of a phaff you have to delete each one individually which is long-winded (unless I'm missing a 'trick' ).

It's nice to know when I'm driving I could have a camera on 'my side' if I needed it.
