I feel your pain.

Think you’ll do another?

Potentially, if this one sells - Im under no illusions. Its a buyers market and I wouldn't let it go for a song as the time and effort I put into it just wouldn't be worth it - although it has mostly been enjoyable building it so can't really put a price on that.

I’ve only had one interested party so far who came quite a way to see it but although it’s the nicest 240Z he has driven and the engine pay was perfect wasn’t the car for him. (He’s a dealer so suspect looking to purchase for someone else).

I’m reluctant to sell anyway given the prices stateside. Just managed to get a brand new rear hatch emblem and found some stainless door trims with no cracks on the seal so will fit those this weekend.

Can I be bold enough to ask why he came and saw it (presumably having looked at all the pics and spec) yet it wasn't the car for him - was it down to price? If it was, obviously I am not asking what your discussion was but glad you didn't give in and sell for less than it is worth. (Although it is only worth what someone will pay, obviously) ...

Of course..!

As the seats were dyed black (I’m yet to see a good quality well fitted set of new covers) there is some slight wear he didn’t want to have to do this job himself. Also mentioned that some of the seals weren’t new (I’ve replaced all the brittle ones and kept what was left of all the oem supple ones). I’m also yet to restore the steering wheel which would have been an extra cost...
He basically wanted a new car (mentioning MZR several times - although i couldn’t justify the difference in price 30-70k ).

He was however a nice chap and clearly had a keen interest in very OEM cars.

Thanks. So nothing a couple of weekends wouldn't solve then - ie not a lot! Someone will buy it - it's a lovely looking Z.

Sounds like he was living in fairy land if he thinks he'll get a more complete 'newer' car for less....

Nice little addition, that.

Can you tell me where you got your number plates from please Dan? And also, I see your car is an L reg, is it a '72 or a '73 and stamped as such on the door VIN?
Mine is an 8/72 and yet got given a K plate - when picky ol' me wanted an L ... not sure whether to take it up with DVLA or whether they will think I am mad - it says on the V5 doc first reg 01/01/72 which is obv wrong.

Cheers

Hey buddy,

I’ve just ordered a load more from a chap on eBay that goes by the username of ej-parts. Just drop him a message and request 12x6 rather than the normal.

It’s a late 73 if I remember correctly.

Dan
