I'm pleased you found my project Sean. I had just logged on with the intention of posting a link, but you have done it.

We plan to have it on display and running every half hour, at a major classic car show at Auckland in Feb.

Brian.

Sure is a small world now.

Yea, I had thought about six Sean, It's a little late for this motor though:) I was thinking of perspex covers and having the normal oiling, but after a few seconds the perspex would be pretty hard to see through. I ran it on six first and then removed the plugs one at a time to get the sweetest and slowest running. It runs nicely on 1 2 3 as these are every second one in the normal firing order. I had tried running on 1 and 2, but it's not so happy. If I find another scrap motor somewhere I will have a crack at six I think. Maybe cut off the oil to all the bearings and grease them. It would idle like that, but I wouldn't like to rev it much. I cut the oil to all the rear mains and rods, but am still getting a little oil through the middle main and number 4 rod bearing. hence the plastic covers each side.. These are an amazing motor. This block is still standard size, and had no visible lip in the bore.

I don't have a bloody clue what they said, but that was so cool to be seen in France. I'm amazed.

Happy New Year all.

Brian

I once drove home on 5 cylinders - seen one start up after 4 months under river slime !
