Crossmember dimensions

Hi, my garage has stripped out the front suspension of my 72 240Z as part of the rebuild and found the crossmember was not fitted very well with the holes elongated.
We don’t now know if the crossmember is correct or whether the holes in the new chassis rails were not set correctly.
Could someone please tell me the distance between the cross member holes measured from outside of each hole as per attached photo.
I can then determine if I need a different crossmember or need to make adjustments to the rails.
Thanks in advance

Measured to the outside of the holes, across the crossmember, 770mm.

You should find that the holes on ONE side of the crossmember are round, and on the other side they are elongated. This is to allow for slight differences in the bodyshell sheetmetal during production.

If you are worried about bodyshell dimensional true, you can refer to the drawings in the factory service manual.

Many thanks for this. I have the same 770mm on my crossmember so what I thought was an elongation of holes by a previous owner is actually factory spec.
Am I correct is saying the 260z crossmembers were the same length just ‘beefier’ in certain areas?
Onto the next step, thanks
