NISSAN 300 ZX, Crash damaged,
Front cornor.. £999.
Distance: 27 miles
Price: £999

Gonna go check it out. If its just bumper work and some headlights, bit of wing work and bla bla I was going to change the bumper, alloys, suspension anyway.

Might be a good deal Maybe not tho...

How expensive are new radiators and such? Could this not be such a good idea? Don't want a car that crabs heh.

This isn't your poor car is it John Boy?

Cheers

Be aware just how much expensive stuff there is behind a 300ZX Z32 bumper - intercoolers and associated pipework, air box, air flow meter, evap bottle, washer bottle, rad overflow bottle, air-con condenser rad, electric fan and, on UK cars a stack of coolers and pipework etc. A light tap on the front end is often enough to merit a write-off now that values are falling. Add the costs of even a few of those items to a bumper fascia, support, headlamp and minor lamps and you have quite a substantial bill or the need for a rear-ended donor car!

ARGH!

I have to buy a 300zx now, just driven back to uni (Taunton, Somerset to Bournemouth, Dorset) and the 306 just doesn't cut it anymore My car keeps getting upset by mid range Mondeos! It's too slow and the sorts of roads I drive now demands something bigger.

Another thing is people were in the habbit of flashing me for overtaking them.

OK nothing coming the other way, good visibility, the road markings say it's safe WTF IS THE PROBLEM!

I can't stand people who think because they do 40mp in a 60 that EVERYONE should. Then they blind you with main beams thinking it's gonna teach you a lesson.
</rant>

My bro is gonna buy my 306 so it's good as sold, just time to find a nice example. I'm wanting

2+0 manual turbo
leather interior
climate control (if poss)
electric seats
BLACK

anything else I'm missing on the list of things to have?

Cheers

It's when they're doing 40 in a 60 and then moan, that's really taking the piss!

I drive within my limits, the limits of my car, and the limits of the situation (weather, road etc), and I never endanger others. Just because YOU can't drive thats not my problem.

Grrr some journeys are good, others are plagued with bad drivers. Spoils an otherwise fun run.

I think I was told it was red, but I didn't write that down - don't hold me to it, just give them a call and find out.

Will do thanks,

If not I think I may go for a 2+2, the difference is probably neither here nor there.

The difference is definitely here and the 2+2 will never be there......

The 2+2 in the world of Fairlady has always been the poor second (or in the case of the Z, third) choice. Similarly the auto vs manual debate. Autos and sports cars do not belong in the same sentence (except I have to make an exception for specialised drag race autos which bear little relationship to the soggy road versions). In the desirability stakes, I would rate the various groups of Z models as follows:

Z Models
1.240Z
2.260Z 2 seater
3. 260Z 2+2
Thank God we never had the autos here.

280ZX
1.2 seater manual with turbo
2.2+2 manual with turbo
2=. 2 seater manual
4.2+2 manual
5.2 seater auto
6.2+2 auto
Personally, I don't care if it has a targa roof or not, but given an equal choice I would take "without targa". Late 2+2s will always take precedence over early 2+2s. Shame we never had the late 2 seater, but I would suffer LHD for a genuine nice 2 seater turbo manual......

Z31 300ZX
1. Late turbo (all manual anyway)
2. Early turbo (all manual)
3. Late NA
4. Early NA (a long way behind the rest.....)

Again, no 2 seater UK cars to get excited about.

Z32 300ZX
1. 2 seater turbo manual (for the performance)
1= 2 seater NA manual (for the reliability and responsiveness)
3. 2+2 turbo manual
4. 2 seater turbo auto
5. 2+2 turbo auto
6. 2+2 NA auto
No direct experience of driving the convertible, but if I have to slot them in, put between 4 and 5.

350Z jap spec
Pure conjecture, I've not driven one yet....
1.Version S manual
2.Version ST manual
3. Version T manual
4. Fairlady manual
5. Any auto version

Now, who wants to rejig the list into their all time favourite Top 10?

I had just about decided that I would go for a 2+2 and you go and shake it all up again

I spoke to an import company and they said about £5k for an import.

Gonna look around, I want black, leather, all the gizmos 2 seater TT. About £5.5k max really.

I agree with you on the list of "to have" cars tho.

Hi Russ, There is no doubt that buying a Zed of any type is an exciting and emotional Roller coaster. In view of you tender age a word of caution from one of the older generation. That word is "insurance". Make sure you get a written quotation first before parting with any cash on any type of Z32 projectile. You might need to amend your budget. EG car , max price £500 insurance £5000.! Well i exagerate of course but I hope you catch my serious point.
Perhaps some of the Z32 tt men would talk to you privately on actual figures.
And then there is the running cost issue as well. Talk at the club shows among Z32 owners is always on this point. Just finding someone local to service the thing properly is a major headache, never mind the bill when you go back to collect it.

Hi,
If I wasn't a "family" man I would prefer a 2 seater Z32 or Z31 model (not available in UK ).A 280ZX Turbo 2 seater would also be another choice.
However, with a young daughter I need the rear seats of a 2+2 model, if I'm able to justify having a ZX to my wife.
If only two of us could travel in the car I wouldn't get to use it much!
The answer would be to get one of each!

Hi pmac,

Yeah all good points, thankfully at my tender young age I still have 60% NCB and come another 5 months I'll be on max (70% I think) so insurance is pretty good for me

Running costs, well road tax won't be any more and so really that leaves parts, maintenance, fuel and other odds and sods. Well being a loser student I don't get much chance to drive anywhere so petrol isn't a worry and the parts and labour costs, well apparently just down the road from me theres a good garage for 300zxs so that's handy.

Just gotta find me an example, gonna ring Mr. Insurance in the morning so I'll let you know if I have a chance

Cheers
