Based on what I've been seeing on my travels, Red would be my bet....

Bet you would have looked good in that

It's the wife's SUV but I will need to drive it to do tip runs and what she really wanted I can't bring myself to type here

any pictures of a 920 Safari Gold with flares?

I don't think that's the factory Safari Gold! As 110 is halfway between red and orange (to me) I'd say that car above was halfway between 918 and Safari. Maybe closer to Safari, but there ain't a lot in it!

    It's a bit 'too orange'

It's just the photo, the car does look 'mustard' in person.

Here's mine, and it does look different in the flesh, more brown.
Sunlight and artificial light have greatly different effects on photos.

No it's not just the photo. Mike is right, that is on the bright side of Safari gold.
I saw an original paint Safari Gold 240Z recently and it was nowhere near as bright, even allowing for the aged paint.

Also only the 240Z and never the 260/280Z were offered in Safari Gold.
In that case no real necessity to remain true to original factory hues, just go for any colour you like.

No doubt Dave will be along soon to let you know the exact colour shade he used, but also depends on paint manufacturer, water based or cellulose etc.....

It will also depend on your monitor and picture settings.
Best thing to do is to get your painter to do a test panel and make up your mind from that after viewing in different lights.
I don't know how close mine is to the factory shade as I have never seen an original 920 car in the flesh but I love the colour I have.

I have access to 10bit/16bit monitors (above HDR) but unless I have colour graded picture it means nothing, I'm surprised I like it but I do and the flares look OK. Need to work out how we get the exact paint match now
