Well went to renew mine as car is SORN. Got the usual reminder, so completed all the forms and sent them in with all the information requested via email.

Then I get a letter stating you did not sent in the mileage declaration, so I re sent the same email with all the information still attached and call them to make sure they have it, confirmed yes so end of. Well I thought so until;

I get another letter stating I did not send in the mileage deceleration a few weeks later. So this time I again fill in the one document requested and email that one in sepperatley. Yes again I called they confirm they have it. ahhhh peace.... nope;

I get another letter confirming I have not sent in the required modification paperwork. I re send the same email I sent at first that had it enclosed and call them. I then ask if they have everything as getting rather angry now. They confirm all present and correct.

You guessed it, I get another letter stating 2 of the pictures are not 100% side on and can I send some more in, This I do with gritted teeth as getting rather frustrated.

Well they done it again, another letter stating they decided to Knock 5 grand of the valuation from last year, this they tried every year and put it back each time. This time they said I have to get an independent valuation (not club). so I now have to pay to have the car recovered to a specialist and back at a huge cost if I want the extra £5k covered.

To add insult to injury I said you know what, cancel the policy as you have not supplied what I have been requesting and paid for, their reply, we will deduct the time we covered your car plus a further £60 cancellation fee....... W ........rs.

Time to go to the ombudsman I think. Has anyone else had the same problems or can recommend an insurer that knows what they are doing?

I wont name them in public,...... but its one of the big ones.

Never had the SORN situation but I insure with Peter Best Insurance and always found them easy to deal with and not over-bureaucratic. Good luck. I would be tearing my hair out by now (if I had any).

The SORN wasn't the issue, just not got a clue what they are doing. Tempted to say rip off merchants but I wont..... Oh forgot, each time I replied I got a "how did we do survey" going to fill them all in later.....

Yes! Do every one . . .
By the way - Peter Best were the only ones who would offer me an agreed valuation without limiting my mileage.

Did the company amalgamate with another one not to long ago as mine sent me a letter saying thank you for your cheque could to please sign the proposal form and send back and when I phoned up and said the signed proposal was sent in with the cheque and when she checked she said oh yes we have got that all here so don't need it sent in again
Seems at time left does not know what the right hand is doing

Unsure to be honest, just googled it and couldn't find any take over, sale etc

I use Hagerty for my two classics, so hope it's not them.

I must admit, I can't see why you don't feel you can name in this instance, if it' has all happened as stated above there doesn't appear to be any ambiguity as to there being bad service.

Im going to take it to the Ombudsman..... but through their complaints process first. its not any of the companies mentioned so far. ;)

Sorry to hear of all your hassles. Sounds like they need reminding of who the customer is and that there are plenty of other insurance suppliers.

I just hope it's not mine. I am with Marker Study through Adrian Flux. They have been ok so far although I did have an issue about the garaging on the small print which was easily sorted.

im having the same issue with adrian flux.
they gave me a piddly agreed estimate on the basis i only got the car cheap.
their thinking and i quote is "if you insure a car for twice what you pay for it then its profiteering if anything should happen to it".
so they would only insure it for the sum i paid not what its actually worth.
to make matters worse is i inherited this car and the small exchange of money was to help my uncle (who the car used to belong to) pay off his mortgage.

i then argued if i got a ferrari for £500 from my mum or dad then could i only insure it for £500 as that is all i paid for it?
the adrian flux people said yep that would be correct!
the only way froward is they requested an independant evaluation and they would consider it in the agreed valuation.
pissed off is an understatement because im frightened to drive the car in case something bad should happen.

Have a look on retro rides. There was a massive thread about Flux and their p#ss poor service. Shocking treatment of customers seems to be the norm

If you want I can get a message to a guy from Adrian Flux who posts on their behalf on the 300 forum and ask him a couple of question or could ask him if he would like to answer questions on here or if anyone pmed me the question I could message him in private for either of you

Oh sh!t!:( I hope I am not going to have issues at my next renewal.

On the agreed valuation, I didn't have much trouble with mine. I provided the Club valuation given by Moggy240 plus all the info that I provided to him and they agreed with it even though it was considerably higher than the purchase price. It did take a while to make the decision though (about 6 weeks).

I would also be interested in the link to the thread on Flux as it may influence my decision come the next renewal.

Many years ago, I once got Flux to quote me to insure my Z. The best they offered was FOUR times the price I was paying with Classicline. I laughed at them and have never bothered to move from Classicline. If it ain't broke, etc.

My Integra TypeR is insured with Flux though and they've been quite accommodating at renewal, although there's nothing like agreed values to worry about...

Are there any alternatives for heavily modified z's? Most others wouldn't quote for modified classics I found

My renewal price with Adrian Flux was good, but they have refused to insure my car at the requested agreed valuation... even though supported by moggy plus current market prices etc etc.
Frustratingly, the agreed valuation is/was done after policy renewal?!
Won't be renewing with them next time...

My understanding is that the "agreed valuation" is the value to purchase a car of the same type and condition or to buy a car and get it to that condition.Perhaps check the paperwork?
