    Rob, are the dimensions of your tool the same as those in the diagrams I uploaded?

    Joking apart, my wooden tool is probably half the size of the diagrams posted but it has worked ok for me on about 3 occasions. What I used to do was hook a bungy strap to the chain and onto the bonnet catch to stop the chain dropping into the timing cover.Obviously you have to juggle a bit when taking the head off but after that 'hook it up'.
