    Guys,

My head needs to come off :p

With a suspected blown head gasket, job looks easy enough. Does anybody have one of these dildo looking tools to keep the timing chain tensioner in place.

If I could borrow one please and I will promise to return it, will buy a beer at the next meet

I just made one out of wood and threaded a length of wire through a hole in the end so it could be easily removed.

As Mike said, a wedge of wood is what most people use. I think there are some dimensions on the net somewhere.

The plastic ones are not robust enough IMO.
    A bit of hardwood carving...

Excellent, thanks for the advice guys. I will get carving tomorrow with some canadian red wood spare flooring I have to hand.

Not had any offers of a lending me the tool, perhaps suggesting it was a dildo was the wrong thing. Ha Ha :)

This looks pretty close and may be just the job, especially as it lights up so you can see the chain better but it's a bit pricey mind! Additionally, it can wiggle itself loose once you're done.

The best bit is that the controls have been well thought out and in the base that would be sticking up and within easy reach when holding the chain in place.

Also waterproof so no worries about oil contamination.

I wonder if they do a bulk discount for a group buy?

That looks as if it would do the trick alright, though need to leave the batteries out so doesn't wriggle away :) Good size that - though thinking of it, that's one thing I am lacking in my tool box

Shall we all show a picture of our tools to help with the original post?

    I'll get mine out tomorrow.
